CAT 2024 IIM Ahmedabad Shortlisting Criteria: Expected AWT-PI Cutoff
During the preliminary screening (First Round), candidates have to clear the Quantitative Ability (QA), ‘Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning’ (DILR) and ‘Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension’ (VARC) sections. For that, candidates will have to meet the minimum cutoff for each. Since the cutoff is yet to be declared, the expected cutoff has been provided for CAT 2024 IIM Ahmedabad shortlisting based on the previous year’s trend in the following table:
Category | PVARC | PDILR | PQA | Overall Percentile Rank (PT) |
---|---|---|---|---|
General/EWS | 70 | 70 | 70 | 80 |
NC-OBC/Transgender | 65 | 65 | 65 | 75 |
SC | 60 | 60 | 60 | 70 |
ST | 50 | 50 | 50 | 60 |
PwD (in General/ EWS/ NC-OBC/ Transgender/ SC) | 60 | 60 | 60 | 70 |

Throughout the entire selection process, the candidate will be given an ‘Application Rating’ (AR) which will be calculated based on the Class 10 marks, Class 12, graduation marks percentage, and work experience (as of July 31, 2024). The better the rating of the candidate, the higher will be his/her chance of getting shortlisted for AWT & PI.

CAT 2024 IIM Ahmedabad Shortlisting (Stage I): Candidate Selection from Different Disciplines
In stage 1, candidates score in different disciplines and previous records will be evaluated. After AR is calculated, toppers from each disciple will be shortlisted based on their composite score (CS). The calculation for the composite score is provided below
CS (Composite Score) = ARF_CS * Normalised AR score + CATF_CS * Normalised overall score in CAT-2024 |
---|
Application Rating Multiplication Factor for Composite Score (ARF_CS) = 0.35; CAT Multiplication Factor for Composite Score (CATF_CS) = 0.65 |
CAT 2024 IIM Ahmedabad Shortlisting (Stage II): Candidate Selection Basis Composite Score
Candidates who pass Stage I will be removed from the final list. From the remaining unselected ones, a few more candidates will be selected based on their composite score, the calculation for which is provided above.
CAT 2024 IIM Ahmedabad Shortlisting Stage III: Candidate Selection Basis Final Composite Score
Candidates who pass Stage II will be removed from the final list as well. Then, from the remaining, a few more will be selected based on their final composite score. The composite score will be calculated as follows:
FCS = PIF * Normalised PI Score + AWTF * Normalised AWT Score + CATF_FCS * Normalised CAT Score + ARF_FCS *
