CBSE Releases a Handbook on Higher Education Courses

With the aim of introducing students to the offbeat and new age courses for higher studies, CBSE has issued a handbook for students passing 12th. This will help students discover various courses and give them insight.

CBSE Releases a Handbook on Higher Education Courses

The Central Board of Secondary Education or CBSE will be educating children about the various new-age career options students can pursue after completing their school. The board has released a 122-page handbook on 3rd November 2019 containing more than 14000 colleges and 9000+ universities offering various courses . The board is optimistic about the new initiative as they expect the handbook will help children learn about various courses and curriculum across the country and they can make a smart choice to chose a course as per their interest. The booklet has details of 133 courses students can take up for studies after 12th standard.

On 19th March 2019, the Central Board of Secondary Education said that the compendium of courses is an endeavour by the board to introduce students to an array of courses and career options.

Anita Karwal, Chairperson of CBSE informed that the purpose of the compendium is to, create curiosity amongst students for exploring various courses, possibilities and avenues, and look beyond those courses too.

CBSE in the handbook has included a total of 113 new age and offbeat subjects with other traditional subjects such as Journalism , Robotics , Data Science , Artificial Intelligence , Library Science , Travel , Nutrition etc.

For every course CBSE has included in the handbook, it has also included programmes offers, colleges and universities which offer these courses, future prospects and eligibility criteria.

Karwal also informed that as a part of the new and development targeted initiatives, the board will also release a combination of subjects, students can opt for after 10.
