In view of the Coronavirus outbreak in India, Indraprastha University , short for Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), has decided to provide online classes to its students. This came after the declaration of 21-day nationwide lockdown which posed as a hindrance to the university's academic timetable.
The university added that over 100 affiliated colleges and a lot of students have resorted to ICT-based learning platforms for a number of professional courses not only at the university but also in various colleges.
The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India and the UGC had earlier requested all the Central and State universities or educational institutions to introduce e-learning platforms in order to offer a new and blended form of learning during the lockdown. There are many ICT initiatives by the Consortium of Communication (CEC), UGC, MHRD, Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET) that can be accessed by the students, researchers and teachers of the universities. Few of them are UG/PG MOOCs, e-PG Pathshala, SWAYAMPRABHA, SWAYAM Online Courses, CEC-UGC YouTube Channel, Shodhganga and National Digital Library.
