The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Shillong organized its ninth season of the Golf Cup last week. The tournament was held at the Shillong Golf Course to bring together business professionals from prominent organizations and students together in one arena.

The event saw more than 130 golf participants from different regions of the country. Some were highly skilled players whereas to some the game was new. The participants included guests from different ministries, corporate houses and armed forces. Big names of the corporate world such as Goldman Sachs, Wipro, Titan Company Ltd. and Axis Bank participated in the ninth season of Golf Cup.
Networking is one skill that every aspiring manager should possess. It is not only essential for business building but also very important to create new business ties. Golf plays an elemental role in networking and business as many important meetings and business deals are done during games.
Talking about the event and its productivity, one of the tournament volunteers of the event, Abhyudaya Ranglani said that management students are always eager to talk to industry experts as they want to learn from their immense experiences. He also said that through the golf tournament the students got an opportunity to interact with a lot of business experts.

First-year student at IIM Shillong, Himanshu Chugh said that golf course, in a lot of ways, is similar to a corporate boardroom meeting. He further added that it is all about taking informed decisions, brainstorming on critical issues and analyze the consequences the decisions that have been made.
