Government Junior College at Achampeta, Guntur District was inaugurated on 18-May-2016 . The Andhra Pradesh Government has sanctioned a Government Junior College at Achampeta, Guntur district in the year 2008. But the construction did not commence in 2008 due to deficit funds. The college was run at local government school for 8 years and finally the government granted the fund for the construction of college in the year 2015. This region doesn’t have a government junior college. There are two government colleges at Guntur but there aren’t many government colleges in the villages.
The college was inaugurated by the DEO of Guntur District along with Sarpanch of the village and others. The college has all the facilities along with computer lab, chemistry lab, physics lab and Biology lab. The college has mineral drinking water facility. An amount of Rs. 2.5 crore has been spent for the construction of the college. The college can accommodate 600 students. The college offers the following courses:-
- MPC – Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry
- BPc – Biology, Physics, Chemistry
- MEC – Mathematics, Economics, Commerce
- CEC – Civics, Economics, Commerce
- HEC – History, Economics, Civics
The government is planning to launch vocational courses from the academic year 2017-2018. The classes for the current academic year 2016-2017 will commence from 6-June-2016.
