The first convocation of IIIT Sri City to open with the addressing speech by Venkaiah Naidu, the Vice-President of India. The institute has been recently built and has plans for massive expansions in the near future.
The first Convocation Ceremony of the newly established Indian Institute of Information Technology - IIIT Sri City will be graced by the presence of the honorable Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu. He is invited as a chief guest in the Indian Institute of Information Technology - IIIT Sri City for the convocation which is set to be held on 23rd April 2019.
The Indian Institute of Information Technology - IIIT Sri City was established by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD) of the Government of India and Andhra Pradesh state government in the new building smart city named ‘Sri City’ in Andhra Pradesh which is near Chennai.
The first phase of the Indian Institute of Information Technology - IIIT Sri City was completed in July 2018 with an academic block and two hostels in the state of the art campus that is underway in Indian Institute of Information Technology - IIIT Sri City. Other development works that involve the development of a dining hall and two more hostel blocks have been undertaken by the Indian Institute of Information Technology - IIIT Sri City. The institute is currently running with 750 students out of which, 40 belong from states other than Andhra Pradesh.
The IIIT Sri City Director Dr. G. Kannabiran informed the media that the Vice President will deliver the addressing speech which will be followed by Ravindra Sannareddy who will conduct the convocation ceremony further. Sannareddy is not only a member of the ‘Board of Governors’ (BOG) at IIIT Sri City but also Chairman of Sri City. A total of 135 degrees will be awarded to the students in the first convocation where 105 are under-graduate, 29 are honours course graduate degrees and one MS degree.

IIIT Sri City offers UG courses in two specialisations like every other IIIT which are, B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) . It also offers MS and Ph.D. courses in the above-mentioned specialisations.
The 2019 admissions for IIIT Sri city has been opened for applications through JEE Mains . The Institute plans to offer courses in Smart Manufacturing and Cyber Security also.
