The Indian Institute of Technology Banaras Hindu University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Esri India, the leading geographic information system that provides geospatial technical support and solutions. Banaras Hindu University director PK Jain informed that Esri Technology is being used in a large number of government projects. With the use of Esri Technology, it will help to create GIS skill-base in the state
The government took in the industrial defence corridor project which is a prestigious defence project for defence equipment manufacturing. This project has six state districts that will be made available for defence-related industries and will cover approximately 3000 acres of land. In the project, the GIS Technology will be used for the mopping the land, transport, parcel, ancillary industries, transport infrastructure, the availability of raw material, etc.

The President of the Eris India Agendra Kumar said that the GIS technology is used in the base of many governments programs. Which makes it imperative in GIS technology. The availability of GIS Technology in the learning process of the students will increase the professionals in India.
