To be eligible for admission, students need to place among the top 250,000 candidates across all groups who take the B.E./B.Tech. paper (Paper I) of the JEE (Main) in 2025. Given how competitive these spots are, open category candidates must perform well on the JEE Main 2025 exam to secure a ranking between 96100 to 96200. An additional number of top candidates are selected because their percentile is the same. For instance, in 2024, for the general category, 97351 were selected instead of the required 96187 because from 96188 to 97351, all candidates had the same percentile as that of 96187. It is done to ensure fairness for all candidates who got the same percentile.
