In order to reduce the difference between male and female enrollment in the institutes, the female supernumerary quota was introduced. Under this quota, the number of seats for female students was increased without compromising the existing number of seats. Thus, only female candidates are eligible for the supernumerary quota.

JEE Result 2023: What is maximum cutoff?

The maximum cutoff refers to the percentile above which the applicable seat reservation of a candidate will stand nullified. For example, if the maximum cutoff for OBC is 89 percentile and an OBC candidate scores 95 percentile, then he/she will be admitted under the General/UR category instead of the applicable OBC category.

For January session 1, over 8.2 lakh candidates registered for JEE Main exam. Usually, for session 2, the number of registrations goes down but JEE Main 2023 session 2, the number of registrations crossed 9.4 lakh candidates, bringing about an increase of 1.2 lakh+ registrations from session 1. Hence, the total number of unique registrations is likely to increase compared to the previous year and the cutoffs will become tougher.

JEE Main Session 2 Result: Is counselling based on CRL or category-wise rank?

The counselling conducted by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) for admissions into IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs will strictly be based on the category-wise ranks of the candidate and not their CRL ranks, except for unreserved students who will not be allocated category-wise ranks. For state-level counselling through JEE, the respective state authority will allocate fresh rankings for the registered students.

If the student appeared for only of the two sessions, then his/her final NTA score will be of that session only. JEE Main Result: Another erroneous question in final answer key

As pointed out by the students, the correct answer for Question ID 7155053704 from April 6 Shift 1 Mathematics should be Option ID 3483638676 and not Option ID 3483638171. The correct answer was given in the provisional answer key but was changed in the final answer key. The question is: The number of ways of giving 20 distinct oranges to 3 children such that each child gets at least one orange.
