The first shift of the JEE Main January 2020 exam was conducted on January 06, 2020. The exam was conducted from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM. JEE Main Shift 1 Exam Analysis 2020 (January 06, 2020) - Live

The shift 1 exam of JEE Main 2020 exam has been completed, and according to the initial reports, Mathematics turned out to be the toughest section. The overall difficulty level of the question paper was moderate, and the candidates with good preparation can expect a good percentile. On the other hand, the numerical section in Physics was also the toughest section for many students. Most of the questions that featured in the Shift 1 of JEE Main 2020 exam were from Class 12th textbook only. The drawing test was moderate to difficult, and there were two questions on the same.

The drawing section was difficult. On the other hand, most questions from the Mathematics section were from Class 11th syllabus. Some of the major highlights are as follows -

• In Mathematics there were questions on the distance between 2 points.
• There were many questions from 3D Geometry.
• The Mathematics section witnessed fewer questions between differentiation and integration.
• The Aptitude section had a question about the location of the Konark Temple.
• The first question in the Drawing section was based on Cylinders
• The second question had three options, i.e., Draw a Gymnast doing exercise, make face of grandparents and make a scene of a playground.

Last year, the difficulty level of the JEE Main exam was easy to moderate. Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry are turned easy for the candidates, and the difficulty level of January 2020 exam can be the same. However, some students in various location opined that Chemistry and Physics was difficulty compared to Mathematics. From each subject, the candidates can expect at least 5-10 difficult questions whereas the rest of the questions may be easy or moderate.
