JNU or Jawaharlal Nehru University has decided to conduct a common entrance exam for the admission to MPhil and PhD programmes falling under the same field of study. According to the official notification released by NTA (National Testing Agency) , students seeking admission to the same field of study in MPhil and PhD programmes through JNUEE will get a single question paper for the entrance exam. JNU will conduct the entrance examination for both the programmes on the same day and as per the schedule provided by the university.
According to the notification, if a student wishes to apply for both the programmes in the same field, they can apply for both and appear for one entrance test. The marks acquired by the candidate in the common entrance exam will be applicable or relevant for admission to both the courses.

JNUEE is held by NTA, every year to offer admission to students to UG, PG, PhD and MPhil programmes. The exam has been postponed this year along with many other exams, due to the outbreak of COVID-19. The application process for JNUEE 2020 has concluded on 30th June 2020 and as per the university, a 22% increase in registration for JNU was recorded this year as compared to last year.
As per the guidelines issued by the Union Home Affairs Ministry to arrest the spread of the virus, JNU has decided to remain shut until the 31st August 2020.
