Jawaharlal Nehru University, one of the top universities in the country has taken the decision to offer digital courses in varied disciplines through its new platform – SCEL (Special Centre for E-Learning). The main purpose of these courses is to aid students from remote regions access ‘high quality’ education. JNU is planning to make its high-quality education more accessible to the students of JNU as well as those who cannot afford to join the varsity.
The digital courses that will be offered by JNU is, in a way, a positive step towards ‘inclusive’ education through which students can access a wide range of courses. The Executive Council of JNU gave approval for SCEL on November 23, 2017.

The new initiative will enable the faculty of JNU to actively work to participate in MOOCs (Massive Online and Open Courses) offered by UGC on its SWAYAM platform.
Vice Chancellor of JNU, Mr. Jagadeesh Kumar felt that the universities could reach out to the society by making high-quality education inclusive. Enabling the students to access the high-quality education irrespective of time and space is possible only through digital courses. JNU is playing a crucial role in supporting the ‘Digital India’ initiative, he added.

The entrance exam conducted by JNU for the admission to courses in various levels is scheduled to take place on December 23 and December 27, 2017. The results of the entrance exam will be out in April 2018 and the admission process will begin in June 2018.
