Many cities in Karnataka will be witnessing a State-wide bandh tomorrow September 29, 2023. All the Schools will remain closed and all leading universities in Karnataka have postponed the semester exam. Check more details below

Karnataka Schools Holiday 2023: Bengaluru, Mysore, Tumkur, Sivamogga and many other cities in Karnataka will be witnessing a State-wide Bandh tomorrow September 29, 2023. The bandh has been declared by BJP, AAP, JDS and other organizations due to the release of Cauvery water. All the private/government colleges and schools will remain closed today on 29 September 2023. The urban deputy commissioner DC KA Dayanand has confirmed the dates that all schools in Bengaluru and Mandya district will be closed. Students are advised to stay cautious and stay away from protest areas.

The government has released an official notice related to the Karnataka school holiday due to the bandh. Earlier all the schools in Bengaluru were closed on 26 September 2023 due to bandh. Deputy CM DK Shivakumar has opposed the bandh carried out by various Pro Kanada groups and other organizations. Students are advised to take all the necessary actions to avoid the route selected by the pro-Kanada group for the bandh march. As per the information received .

Karnataka School Holiday Latest Updates

  • Update 1: As per the information received due to the protest in Karnataka the schools in Bangalore and Mandya District will remain closed on 29 September 2023
  • Update 2: All Private and Government colleges in Bengaluru will be closed today 29 September 2023
  • Update 3: Section 144 has been imposed across Bengaluru, people are advised to avoid coming out today between 6 AM to 6 PM
  • Update 4: Autorikshaw driver union and Ola and Uber drivers will be participating in the band and will be taking out the rally from Nayandahalli to Freedom Park today on 29th September 2023
  • Update 5: The National Highway and Airport will be blocked by the protesters along with the taxis and autos
  • Update 6: Freedom Park in Bengaluru will be the sole location of the protest as all the organizations conducting the protest including driver unions and farmer's organizations will be marching towards Freedom Park
  • Update 7: All educational institutions along with restaurants, movie theatres, shopping malls and private theatres will be closed today . Services like banks and hospital emergency services will be functional.

The bandh is expected in many parts of Bengaluru including the central part of the city. As per the information received from different sources, the protest march will start at Townhall and will proceed to Freedom Park in Bengaluru. The protest is being carried out due to the release of 3000 cusec (earlier 5000 cusec) of Cauvery River water to the neighbouring state Tamil Nadu . The Protest will be carried out between 6 AM to 6 PM and all students are advised to stay away from the protest area.

Many universities like Bangalore University along with Vijayanagara University have postponed the semester scheduled to be conducted on 29 September 2023. As per the notice released by the authorities of Bangalore University Semester 2 and 4 degree exam has been postponed and rescheduled to September 29 2023. In Vijayanagara University the semester exam scheduled to be conducted on 29th September 2023 has been rescheduled to 8th October 2023. Along with that VTU has also postponed the semester exam scheduled on 29th September 2023. As per the recent update, Tumkur Univerity has also postponed the exams scheduled to be conducted on 29th September 2023.
