NID Changes Shortlisting Criteria for M.Des Admissions 2020

The National Institute of Design (NID) has changed its admission process for M.Des courses due to the uncertain scenario in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. The details of NID M.Des admission process 2020 have been provided here along with the new changes.

NID Changes M.Des Shortlisting Criteria

The National Institute of Design (NID) has recently issued a notification stating that it has made some changes in its M.Des (Master of Design) admission process 2020. All the candidates who have applied for admission to the National Institutes of Design (NIDs) were apprised of the fact that the selection criteria for M.Des admissions at NID have been revised by the institute. Additionally, there is also a change in the weightage allocated to the exams of NID DAT Prelims and NID DAT Mains that is considered while preparing the final merit list of NID M.Des admissions 2020.

Due to the spread of the coronavirus pandemic which has led to several nationwide lockdowns in India, the NID Admission Cell has decided to refrain from conducting the rounds of studio test and personal interview at its campuses. Instead, NID DAT Mains 2020 will be conducted via the online mode in order to ensure the safety of students and follow the protocols of social distancing. The NID DAT (Design Aptitude Test) is an entrance examination that is organised by NIDs for shortlisting student for its B.Des (Bachelor of Design) , M.Des, and GDPD (Graduate Diploma Programme in Design) courses. Every candidate who applied for admission will have to upload his/ her portfolio and statement of purpose online before the NID DAT Mains 2020 exam for M.Des admissions.

Apart from that, the NID Admission Cell has made some changes in the weightage that is allocated to NID DAT Prelims and NID DAT Mains while creating the final result or merit list for M.Des admissions. Earlier, the shortlisting criteria included 30 per cent weightage being given to NID DAT Prelims whereas 70 per cent weightage was allocated to NID DAT Mains for M.Des admissions. The revised weightage of each of these exams for NID M.Des admissions 2020 has been mentioned in the table below.

The revised dates of NID DAT Mains 2020 have been announced and it will comprise an online interaction round. The online interviews for M.Des admissions at NID Have already begun from July 6, 2020.
