Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on Friday conferred MBBS degrees to 44 graduates of the very first batch of the North Delhi Municipal Corporation Medical College. The covocation ceremony took place at Kedarnath Sahni Auditorium, Civic Centre.
Vardhan addressed the students during the convocation ceremony and informed the students how a learned and well-practised doctor differs from an amateur doctor. He also strived to make them mindful of the responsibilities that come along with this degree. Talking about the Hippocratic Oath; a Greek medical text that states the rules and ethics of moral conduct of medical practice; he wants every student turned doctor to know it by heart and follow everything that it states. He also released the annual report of the college.

Various dignified personalities were also present in the ceremony which included: Mayor of North Delhi- Mr Avtar Singh, Dean of NDMC Medical College- Dr Sheodaan Singh, Municipal Commissioner- Varsha Joshi and Jai Prakash who is the Chairman of Standing Committee.
Municipal Commissioner Varsha Joshi informed that about four thousand patients are attended in Hindu Rao Hospital, which is one of the five hospitals run by the corporation. The other four hospitals include Kasturba Hospital, MV Infectious Diseases Hospital, Mrs Girdhar Lal Maternity Hospital and RBIPMT Hospital. The hospitals give immense opportunities to medical students to learn and practice daily.
The convocation celebration turned out to be a happy and very informative event for one and all present there.
