Overall Analysis of JEE Main 16th March 2021 (Day 1)

Day 1 of JEE Main 2021 (March) has been concluded on March 16. The exam took place in two shifts with all Covid-19 safety protocols. There was confusion on integer-based questions , and some students had doubts with regard to the decimal point. However, NTA had clearly indicated that the candidates can mark the nearest integer or number in case of a decimal point. For example, if the decimal point is 5.6, then you can mention it as 6. Similarly, if the decimal point is 5.4, you can mention it as 5.

As per the feedback back received from students, the Shift 2 exam was relatively tough compared to the Shift 1. However, Mathematics turned out to be lengthy in both shifts. The Mathematics was tougher in Shift 2 than shift 1. The difficulty level of Physics and Chemistry is the same in both shifts. These two sections were moderate and easy respectively. In Shift 1, the Mathematics section had more weightage from Vector 3D and Shift 2 had more weightage from Coordinate Geometry. Physics syllabus coverage in two shifts was balanced. As far as Chemistry concerned, Physical Chemistry had fewer questions, and Inorganic Chemistry dominated the question paper.

Students appearing for the JEE Main exam on 17 th March must be very clear about the integer-based questions, and avoid last-minute confusion. It is advisable to revise all the topics of Physics, as each topic had at least one question in two shifts. Vector 3D and Coordinate Geometry can prioritized for last-minute revision. For Chemistry, refer to NCERT textbooks, as some questions were repeated without any change. The exact questions featured in February 2021 exam were not repeated on the 16 th March exam. Only the concept was repeated.
