Overall Analysis of JEE Main January 2024 (Session 1): The National Testing Agency (NTA) has finally concluded JEE Main 2024 Session 1 exam for B.Tech/B.E. today. The Paper 1 exam was commenced on January 27, 2024. As per CollegeDekho subject experts, the overall Session 1 exam was Moderate. On some days the paper was balanced while on some days it was more Moderate to Difficult level. This year, Jan session 1 witnessed questions majorly from the NCERT syllabus. The Physics section was balanced and had more numerical-based questions. The Mathematics section was challenging and involved lengthy calculations. Relatively the Day 5 Paper 1 exam was on the difficult side compared to other JEE Main 2024 exam days and shifts. The weightage of Class 12th syllabus was more than Class 11th on each exam day and shift.

The Chemistry section has been the easiest in JEE Main January 2024 exam. However, On Day 5 the entire chemistry section was theoretical based. As per the candidate’s review, Electrochemistry dominated the section this time. On average the overall good attempts in Chemistry was 20 to 22. The weightage of Organic Chemistry was more than Physical Chemistry. Fewer questions were asked from Inorganic Chemistry. Direct questions were asked from NCERT. The topics from which more than 1 question was asked are Chemical Bonding, Coordination Compounds, General Organic Chemistry, Amines, Aryl & Alkyl halides, Periodic Table, Alcohol, Ether & Phenol.

Overall Session 1 Physics section was balanced and more numerical-based questions were asked. Questions from “Capictors” were a surprise to candidates on Day 5 as no question from it was observed in earlier exam days. Approx 2 to 3 questions from the same were asked. Both MCQs and numerical questions in Physics were complex and lengthy. The section was dominated by Magnetism Kinematics, Work Power & Energy, Laws of Motion, Gravitation, Heat & Thermodynamics, Circular Motion, Wave Optics, Modern Physics, Semiconductors, and Current Electricity.
In JEE Main January 2024 Session 1 exam, Calculus & Algebra, and Vector 3D dominated the Mathematics section. Like other exam days and shifts, the last-day paper was also challenging and involved tough and lengthy calculations. As per candidates, overall 7 to 8 questions were easily doable if there was command on formulae and calculation. The major topics asked from the section were Continuity & Differentiability, Area, and Differential Equations. In Coordinate Geometry, Algebra, Complex Numbers, Probability, Binomial Theorem, Statistics, Progressions, Permutation & Combination, Matrices & Determinants.
