Pearl Academy has created a holistic Immersive-Creative-Learning Framework (ICLF) to cope with the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. The institute believes that extraordinary solutions are required to deal with extraordinary times like these. With the coronavirus outbreak hitting the country hard, the field of education has also suffered and a huge number of colleges and universities still reel under the uncertainty of future events.
Students and administration both are equally concerned about how the education system of India will resume henceforth. People are still deliberating if online teaching would be the better option or whether institutions should strike the right balance between off-campus and on-campus teaching.
In such times, Pearl Academy has come up with a unique plan to deal with the current situation without compromising with the safety or future of the students. The ICLF of Pearl Academy will consist of enhanced (online) learning, pre-semester learning, and intense (face-to-face) learning for the academic cycle of July - December. However, this framework can also be adapted for long-term implementation as it is semester-based and module-based.

The President of Pearl Academy, Professor Nandita Abraham, said that ICLF of Pearl Academy is an extension of the advanced pedagogy of the college that focuses on 360-degree learning in terms of skills, knowledge, and practical experience. Keeping the present circumstances in mind, ICLF is designed to comprise virtual or online classes in the first half of the academic session 2020 - 20201 and face-to-face classes on campus towards the end of the year.
Pre-Semester Learning
The section of pre-semester learning of the ICL Framework is for those students who have been admitted to Pearl Academy this year. It is designed to make the students comfortable with all the new ways of learning through online mode in the virtual world. The pre-semester learning of Pearl Academy's ICLF will be conducted online and is scheduled to commence from July 1, 2020. The four modules that will be included in this part are:
- ‘Around the World in 60 Days’
- ‘Socially Plugged’
- ‘Whose Class is it Now?’
- ‘Create a New World’.
While there is a specific objective of each module, the intent is to generate curiosity in the students, introduce them to the whole world of creative practices, and make their learning process immersive as well as enjoyable.
Enhanced Online Learning
Pearl Academy's first semester of the academic year 2020 - 2021 for existing students will begin from August 1, 2020 and the new students will start their first semester from September 1, 2020. There will be webinars, online classes, and masterclasses as per the curriculum Students will also get personalised mentoring sessions as per their needs. Essentials like ‘Study from home’ kit will also be provided by the Pearl Academy so that students can create a home studio. This will include essentials for editing software and apps, a fashion class, or drawing tablets which will be based on the requirement of the semester. The reason for taking this initiative is to ensure that students do not miss out on hands-on experiences and practical projects due to a lack of resources.
Face-to-Face Learning
Pearl Academy will commence its on-campus classes from October 1, 2020 and this will be the most intense phase of the ICL Framework. Classes will be conducted on all days of the week and there will be additional studio and practical hours which will be of two full shifts a day. The winter break of Pearl Academy will be reduced this year so as to complete the syllabus of all subjects. All the Pearl Academy campuses will reopen with the safety precautions in place as per the guidelines of the government. Apart from that, the institute will still provide online classes for those students who do not wish to attend on-campus classes.
