SRMIST has been awarded its accreditation on January 30, 2018, by UK based non-profit charitable Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) at the SRM University. Dr T .R. Paarivendhar Chancellor of SRMIST was handed over the accreditation certificate by Ian Mercer, the Head of International Operations at IET.
As per the sources, T.R. Paarivendhar informed the authorities that the accreditation is of great benefit for the institute as it will increase the international mobility, offer better job prospects for students and will also lead to the acceptance of graduate students in foreign universities for higher studies and exchange programmes. The ceremony was attended by directors, deans and head of the Institute of SRM management team, SRMIST, Regional Head of IET and faculty.

Receiving the IET accreditation from IET is a matter of pride for SRM University. As IET is acknowledged as world's leading professional society for the engineering and technology community. This will help SRM to globalise their engineering education and bring it at par with the world standards. It will also provide the institute with the links to industry stakeholders to enhance students knowledge about the same and make them industry-ready.

IET is governed by the International Engineering Alliance IEA and has accredited around 60 + universities worldwide such as the University of Leeds, Imperial College of London among others. With this accreditation, SRM has also joined the list of accredited institutes across the globe.
