The Pune-based Symbiosis International University (SIU) will soon be starting a campus in Nagpur. The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has provided 75 acres of land to SIU for the establishment of the new campus. Students of the region will be benefited from the seats reserved by the university for the zonal students. Concession in fees will also be provided to needy students.

The new SIU campus will be started at Wathoda. Vidya Yeravdekar, Principal Director, Symbiosis Society, informed that this will be the second largest campus of SIU and will offer various programmes in fields like law, engineering, management, etc.
She also informed that 25 per cent seats at the new campus will be reserved for students who possess Nagpur domiciles along with academic fee concession of 15%. The foundation stone for the university will be laid down on Saturday, January 7, 2017.
Since Nagpur is an aviation hub, the university will also provide aviation and airport logistics programmes, added Yeravdekar. A state-of-the-art architecture center will also be established at the new campus.
The new SIU Campus will also open its gates for foreign nationals as well. Students from Afro-Asian countries will also be able to pursue education at the university.

Shravan Hardikar, Municipal Commissioner of Nagpur informed that a detailed tender has been passed for the land that has been allotted to the university. He also added that the local governing bodies are in favor of the universities as it will benefit the students of Nagpur.
