Telangana State Council for Higher Education is expected to confirm TS EAMCET 2023 exam date soon, and discussions are in place regarding the 25% weightage for IPE marks. As per the sources, the council is planning to scrap the Intermediate weightage in TS EAMCET and allocate the ranks purely on the basis of TS EAMCET rank. In 2020, 2021 and 2022, TS EAMCET ranks were determined on the basis of marks secured by the candidates in the entrance exam. No Weightage was given to Intermediate (IPE) marks in the entrance exam due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to the experts, national-level entrance exams like JEE Main and NEET do not have weightage for Class 12 marks. Therefore, the state government can also look for possibilities to scrap Inter marks weightage in TS EAMCET 2023.
Here is why 25% Weightage for IPE Marks should be scrapped in TS EAMCET 2023 –
- TS EAMCET exam is attended by students of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and candidates belonging to CBSE/ CISCE boards. As some boards declare results in the form of grades, it is becoming difficult for TSCHE to covert those grades into marks because of which the announcement of TS EAMCET results is getting delayed
- In 2020, 2021 and 2022, TS EAMCET results were declared before the expected deadline due to the non-implementation of IPE weightage
- Over the past few days, no candidate belonging to SC/ ST categories scored ‘Zero’ marks in TS EAMCET, and this did not become a problem for TSCHE to allocate TS EAMCET ranks
- Scrapping of IPE weightage in TS EAMCET will reduce the burden and stress on students
As of now, TSCHE has not yet confirmed a tentative date or timeline for TS EAMCET 2023. In all probability, TSCHE is expected to conduct the entrance exam in May, and the schedule will be decided on the basis of national-level entrance exam dates.
