The UGC has asked all colleges and universities across India to conduct the exams by adopting either of the two marking schemes for the students. One is to mark the students on the basis of the internal assessment or change the exam duration from the existing three hours to two hours.
The universities are planning to conduct the exams in the online mode due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation in the nation and the lockdown. According to the reports, many universities are not inclined towards announcing the results on the basis of the internal assessment marks. Bangalore University VC, Venugopal KR has mentioned that if the results are declared on the basis of the internal assessment then it will be unfair to the students as it is not really possible to assess the potential of the students on the basis of their past academic record or previous performances. Once the situation goes back to normal, the university will conduct the exam offline by increasing the number of examination centres across India and conducting the exam in smaller batches of students for a particular shift. If required, the university will include MCQs.
