UGC i.e. University Grants Commission has given a huge fund to a University College,a constituent college of Mangalore University, which is more than a 100 years old. The fund given is Rs. 1,50,00,000, it is given under the college with potential scheme. The fund is allocated to the college for the development of programs related to skills development and for the development of infrastructure.
UGC wrote a letter to Udaya Kumar Irvathur who is the Director of the college mentioning the things they can spend the fund on:
- Upgradation of Laboratories
- Procuring Teaching Aids
- Library Automation
- Purchasing Computers, Books and Journals
- Internet Connectivity
- Upgradation of Classrooms and Seminar Halls
Out of the 1.5 crores, Rs 10,00,000 are just for the skill development programs.

About the College:
The college has come a long way since it was established in the year 1868 by a committee comprising of 9 people. When it was set up they only had Rs. 65,000 and that time it was given the title of Government College, Mangalore.
