The Governor of Uttarakhand Mr. K K Paul said that the universities have to extend the relevance of teaching beyond classrooms to make students proficient not only in academics but also in making them possess various skills. An address at the second conclave of Governor’s initiative to promote competitiveness was attended by the toppers of various universities across the states. Vice Chancellors and teachers/ faculty members also participated in the meeting.

He said that the intention of universities and the government is to give the toppers from Uttarakhand a better exposure on analysing their thoughts, building self-confidence, inspiring other students to perform better and to further develop a pleasing personality. The deliberations and discussions of such kind once a year, are necessary to maintain certain standards in education.

He stressed that the students should never take their success for granted and must work hard to sustain it. He mentioned that the universities need to extend the scope of education beyond the classrooms. Contributing to national level activities like Swachh Bharath, Digital India, Make in India is also necessary. The universities have to take steps in the lines of adopting a village.
