23% of the New PGPX Batch of IIM-A Comprises Women

Women make up 23 percent of the total strength of the PGPX batch of IIM Ahmedabad for the upcoming session of 2019-2020. The institute continues maintaining diversity in its batches with respect to gender, work experience, and profile.

23% of the New PGPX Batch of IIM-A Comprises Women

The Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM A), has 23 percent of its batch of Post Graduate Programme- Executive (PGP-executive or PGPX) consisting of women. The institute had made its highest record with the batch of 2017-2018 with 25 percent of the total students being women. The upcoming PGP-executive, which will be of the duration of a year, was inducted at the institute on 11th April 2019, Thursday.

The Chairperson for the PGPX programme, Professor Arindam Banerjee, said that IIM Ahmedabad is on the right track if we talk about the profiles, work experience, and gender diversity among students. It is the diversity of students that helps in enriching all the learning processes by accumulating diverse perspectives on each topic and subject.

A member of the PGPX batch of 2019-2020, Squadron Leader (retired) Shally Aggarwal, expressed that the PGPX programme stood out of the other such comparable programmes for her because of its rich diversity of cohort. The programme offers a plethora of diversity in terms of roles, industry, culture, geography and so on. These are important aspects that form the basis of peer-to-peer learning and exposure of students.

The officials of IIM Ahmedabad gave the statistical analysis and 33 students out of the total strength of 140 are women. All students come from 21 different functional areas and industries. Around 10 percent of students are NRIs that are natives of six different countries and over 35 percent of the whole batch has received international work exposure.

An IIM-A official said that the batch of 2019-2020 has an average GMAT score of 702 and an average GRE score of about 320. The average age of students is 32 years, and they have an average work experience of 8.9 years with 1.5 years of international experience on an average.
