IBPS PO 2024 Eligibility Criteria

IBPS PO 2024 Eligibility Criteria: To participate in the Probationary Officers examination organized by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS), candidates need to know the IBPS PO 2024 eligibility criteria defined by IBPS. Candidates must meet the minimum age requirement, educational qualification, citizenship criteria, and category policies to be eligible for the examination.

Those who do not stand on the prescribed eligibility criteria will not be counted as the right candidate to sit for the exam and IBPS PO 2024 Application Form of such candidates will not be accepted by IBPS. IBPS PO is an all-India level examination conducted for the aspirants of the banking sector. The IBPS PO Prelims Exam is slated for October 19 and 20, 2024, with the mains exam scheduled for November 30, 2024.

Any candidate who underserves the eligibility requirements, for the IBPS PO examination, at any phase of the Common Recruitment Process will be declared ineligible immediately. Such candidates might also fall for legal implications in case of severe forgery. Candidates are advised to check the detailed eligibility criteria for IBPS PO 2024 given below.

    IBPS PO 2024 Eligibility Criteria - Nationality, Age Criteria, Qualifications

    As discussed, the IBPS demands certain eligibility criteria, which are to be fulfilled by the candidates, before applying for the IBPS PO 2024 exam. These can be categorized as:

    1. Nationality
    2. Age Criteria (Minimum and Maximum age limit)
    3. Educational Qualifications

    On the basis of these three specific parameters, IBPS decides whether a candidate is eligible or not, to apply for the IBPS PO 2024 exam. A comprehensive description of these parameters is given below:

    1. Nationality - IBPS PO 2024 Eligibility Criteria

    • Candidates should be Indian citizens.
    • Candidates may also be citizens of Nepal or Bhutan or Tibetan Refugee who have settled in India since 1st January 1962.
    • Migrated candidates from Uganda, The United Republic of Tanzania, Pakistan, Burma, Zambia, Malawi, Vietnam, Ethiopia, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, and Zaire with the intention of settling in India are also eligible to apply for IBPS PO examination.
    • Migrated candidates must be the ones who have been awarded eligibility certificates by the Government of India. 

    2. Age Criteria - IBPS PO 2024 Eligibility Criteria

    The minimum age requirement for IBPS PO is 20 years while the upper age limit is 30 years. The authority also furnishes age relaxation criteria for the reserved categories. According to the criteria of IBPS, the age relaxation will be based on the candidate's category. The table listed below mentions the upper age relaxations for different categories in the IBPS PO examination:

    left the project's conclusion.

    Persons Ordinarily domiciled in the state of Jammu & Kashmir during the period 01.01.1980 to 31.12.1989

    5 years

    Persons affected by the 1984 riots5 years

    3. Academic Qualification - IBPS PO 2024 Eligibility Criteria

    • A Bachelor's degree in any subject/stream from any recognised university by the Central Government or Indian Government.
    • Candidate should have the Marksheet/ Degree Certificate indicating the percentage of marks obtained in the Graduation program entered during IBPS PO Online Registration.
    • Candidates who are appearing for the last year of their degree program can also apply for the IBPS PO exam.

    IBPS PO 2024 Eligibility: Reservation for PwD

    Persons with benchmark disability are eligible for reservation under this category. The reserved categories under this section are blindness and low vision, locomotor disability such as cerebral palsy, deaf and hard of hearing, leprosy cured, acid attack victims, dwarfism, muscular dystrophy, intellectual disability, mental illness, and persons with a specific learning disability.

    IBPS PO Eligibility 2024: Guidelines for PwD Using a Scribe

    • Visually impaired candidates whose writing speed has been affected permanently due to some adverse accident or mishap are allowed to use scribe. The scribe can be used for both Prelims and Mains, the rules applied for scribe are: 

    • Candidates will have to arrange for their own scribe at their own cost. 

    • The scribe can belong to any academic stream. 

    • The candidate of the examination and his scribe will have to give a suitable undertaking confirming that the scribe fulfils all the required eligibility criteria. 

    • Candidates using scribe will be given 20 mins extra to complete the paper. 

    • The scribe arranged by the candidate must not be a candidate for online examination. If any of the above-mentioned criteria are violated then the candidate and the scribe would have their candidature cancelled. 

    • Candidates who are eligible to use a scribe must mention about it in the online application process. Later on, no request would be entertained. 

    • Only candidates registered for compensatory time will be given the time.  The exam conducting body will not allow the candidates to take extra time if they are not registered for extra time. The candidates who are not registered under it will not be allowed to take this liberty of extra time. 

    Guidelines for Candidates with Cerebral Palsy

    For candidates with 40% impairment in this category would be allowed to use scribe and a 20 min compensatory time every hour ill be given to such candidates. 

    Guidelines for visually impaired candidates

    • Candidates who are visually impaired for not less than 40% will be given bigger font size paper and 20 mins extra for every hour of the examination.

    • Candidates who would use scribe will not be given the magnified paper. 

    Guidelines for intellectually disabled candidates

    A compensatory time of 20 minutes extra would be given to these candidates irrespective of using a scribe or not. But candidates will have to be more than 40% disabled intellectually.

    Economically weaker section

    General Candidates who are not covered under the current scheme of Scheduled Tribe, Scheduled Caste and Other Backward Class whose annual income is less than 8 lakh. Such candidates are considered under the economically weaker section. 

    Applicants who would not be considered under this category would be for the following reasons:

    • Candidates who possess 5 acres of agricultural land and more

    • Residential flat for 1000sq.ft or more 

    • A residential plot of more than 100 sq - 200 sq. yards would be mentioned in the municipality and are not eligible for this category. 

    • Property held by a family in different parts of the city or location. Such cities will be clubbed for determining the economically weaker section.

    • The income of the candidate and also the asset certificate by the competent authority must be produced to prove the EWS. the candidates shortlisted under this category will be called for document verification. 

    • The term "Family" for this purpose will include the person who seeks the benefit of reservation, his/her parents and siblings below the age of 18 years as also his/her spouse and children below the age of 18 years.
