How to Prepare for SET in Six Months

A span of six months is sufficient to prepare well for SITEEE/SLAT/SEED/SET A/SETB/SEED provided you are adequately motivated and focused. A good preparation strategy plays an important role in preparing aptly and eventually acing or scoring well in the exam. Now, let us go through a few important steps to prepare for the exam in only six months.

Plan for the First Two Months

  • Refer to the syllabus and the exam pattern of the concerned exam- It is always better to have a look at the syllabus of the exam and understand which section you need to focus more on. When you go through the syllabus, you will find several topics and sub-topics under each section. Try and divide the same for each day.

  • Gather all the important books (maximum 2 for each section) and previous year's question papers.

  • Now, estimate how much time you need to complete each topic or section.

  • Try to finish at least one section in the first month itself. It is entirely within the discretion of a candidate whether he/she wants to begin with the toughest or the easiest section.

  • Work on the basic concepts and theories.

Plan for the Third Month

  • For SITEEE applicants, complete all the topics under the Mathematics section.

  • The SET A and SET B candidates may focus on the General English section and General Awareness section. Candidates may also find a way to accommodate both in every day’s schedule.

  • SLAT aspirants also can allocate two sections to the third month of preparation. Most preferably, these can be Reading Comprehension and General Knowledge.

  • For SEED applicants, the third month should be for two of the sections.

Plan for the Fourth and Fifth Month

  • Make sure you are making short and crisp notes for each section from the books you are referring to.

  • By the fourth month, you should be able to complete all the sections/topics to be covered for the exam.

  • One of the best ways to prepare for the exam is to go through as many previous year question papers as possible. They will help you get an overall understanding of the paper pattern, type of questions, difficulty level,  and so on.

  • Focus on General English, General Awareness, and learning tricks to solve Analytical and Logical Reasoning questions (for SET A and SET B candidates).

  • SITEEE candidates can focus on learning/memorizing all the formulae.

  • Identify your weaknesses and strengths and focus on strengthening your weaknesses during the fifth month.

Plan for the Sixth/Last Month

  • The trick of a well-planned SET last month's preparation strategy lies in figuring the right revision strategy.

  • Dedicate the last month to revising all the important topics, formulae (if applicable), recent judgments (for SLAT candidates), current affairs/general knowledge, etc.

  • Practice full-length mock tests and analyze your performance.

  • Go through the previous year's question papers.

  • Do not study anything new on exam day. Stay calm and be confident.

Three Months Preparation Strategy for SET Exam

Preparing an exam by dividing it into phases or parts is the best way of preparation. If you want to get a good score in the Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) it is very important to start your preparations at least three months before the SET exam. Making an effective preparation schedule is important. With three months in hand for SET preparation, candidates must start working on their preparations. Below are a few tips and tricks to make a phase-wise preparation strategy for the SET exam.

Phase I- Preparation Strategy

All study material must begin with an understanding of the entire syllabus and entrance test pattern. As previously stated, the SET is a time-based entrance test; thus, it is critical to separate your preparation strategy so that the applicant is able to cover the full syllabus while also having sufficient time at the end of the preparatory phase for revision and practice. Applicants taking the SET exam must devise a strategy that allows them to devote sufficient time to each category. While studying for the SET exam, take brief notes.

Phase II- Familiarize yourself with your strong and weak points

The next stage of your SET preparation you should start familiarizing yourself with the curriculum and numerous significant topics. Select the best study materials for your preparations. It is pointless to amass a large amount of learning resources. Choose the one that encompasses the entire curriculum. Begin with the most difficult topics and work your way up to the easier ones. While studying for your admissions test, you will come across many tips and tricks for answering difficult questions. Find more than one way to answer a question and hence, prevent errors. Polish up on your fundamentals and calculations, and write down formulas and equations to help you remember them. Read the newspaper daily and make it your best friend if you want to ace the Current Affairs category and improve your vocabulary. Try to read the newspaper every day for at least an hour as it will keep you up to date on the current developments, news affairs, and so on, while also expanding your vocabulary.

Phase III- Practice and revise

The final and most important stage of SET preparation is revision. Without adequate practise and revision, no preparation is perfect. Allow at least 15 days for revision. Practice tests and past year's test papers will help candidates become acquainted with the exam pattern, strengthen their time management skills, and recognise their strong points and shortcomings. Applicants will also encounter a variety of relevant questions and new strategies for answering lengthy, brief, complicated, and straightforward questions.

General Tips to Prepare for SET 2025

Know Your Syllabus:

When you sit down to study, you should know exactly what you have to study. Without knowing your SET 2025 syllabus thoroughly, you will not be able to make a timetable or plan your preparation.

Study the NEW Exam Pattern:

While preparing for the exam, you must also become familiar with the exam pattern of SET 2025 by solving sample papers and taking mock tests. Doing so will improve your chances of performing well in the examination.

Time Management:

One of the most important lessons you learn while preparing for competitive exams is how to manage your time. Students often waste a lot of time thinking about questions in the paper instead of actually solving them.

Make Short Notes:

Instead of going through all the topics in detail at the time of the revision, the smart thing to do is to make short notes during your preparation and ensure that you use them for revision.

Know Your Strengths & Weaknesses:

Another important part of your SET preparation is to identify your strong and weak areas. This way, you will be able to build on your strengths and work harder on improving your weak points.

Practice:

When it comes to examinations, practice is all that you need to brighten your chances of scoring well in the exam. If you practice well for the exam, your speed will improve and you will be more confident on the day of the examination.

Take SET Mock Tests 2025

If you are planning to take SET this year, then you should practice mock tests on a regular basis. For practice, there are various sources online that offer free mock tests for SET. By practising mock test of SET 2025, you will be able to polish your problem solving and time management skills. Additionally, with more and more practice, you will be able to improve your speed of solving the questions, which will help you on the day of the actual entrance exam.

One Month Preparation Strategy for SET 2024

When trying to study for SET sections, you must fully comprehend the distinctions between them and prepare better. For example, the Quantitative Skills part is a theory section, so when planning for it, the emphasis should be on extensively gaining insight and memorising the notions and equations. The Analytical and Logical Reasoning section, on the other hand, is practice-based, and therefore the more you practice tests and mock tests, the better your grasp on this section will be.

The General English section contains practice questions (reading comprehensions). Because general knowledge is based on memory, memorize GK topics and events.
