Located in the heart of South Delhi, Institute of Home Economics is a premier college affiliated to the University of Delhi which comprises of a State-of-the-Art infrastructure with computerized library services, Fully automated and integrated Academic and Administrative operations, intranet and internet facilities catering to various educational needs of the students. The college is surrounded by numerous top educational institutions like Kamala Nehru College, DU, Shri Aurobindo College, Gargi College, Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi etc. Several Historical monuments adjacent to the campus adds to the grandeur of the institute. IHE, New Delhi aims at providing quality and value-based education and develop young women respected and autonomous individuals.
IHE Nursery school “AARAMBH” was initiated by the Department of Human Development and Childhood Studies with an aim to provide alternate care option for working parents, in the new building block of the college. It engages the children in various fun activities like dance, music, organising picnics and tour to various other institutions like museums etc.
The college recently added a new building to its campus in 2015 as a part of the college expansion programme encompassing several lecture theatres, labs, conference rooms etc. It has increased the intake capacity of the college and facilitates ample space for study and co-curricular activities.
The IHE library is home to over 22,000 resource materials including books, journals etc related to the field of Home Science. The college provides membership to research scholars as well as outside readers where the users have to pay a minimum library fee of 700/- per annum and 1000/- as library security during enrolment. Outside readers can avail library facilities by paying 50/- per day.
IHE New Delhi provides the following added facilities to its students: Laboratories, Computer Lab, Audio Studio, Conference room, Sports. Gymnasium Canteen, Bookshop.
