Shivaji College was established in 1961 by the Union Minister for Agriculture at the time, Dr Panjab Rao Deshmukh. It functions under the trusteeship of the Government of Delhi. In a 2017 study by India Today, the college was ranked among the top 10 science colleges in India. Shivaji College Delhi has been accreditated with a grade ‘A’ by NAAC and is affiliated to Delhi University (DU). Located in one of the bustling areas of the city, the commute is easy as Shivaji College New Delhi is situated near two metro stations.
The college has a very active placement cell which has been responsible for placing students in various companies and also in providing them with valuable information for improving their career prospects. Some of the various companies that participate in Shivaji College placements are EY, Genpact, NIIT, etc. Along with these companies visiting for placements, the Shivaji College placement cell also organises various workshops and seminars for the students to help them improve their resumes, group discussions and personal interviews. The students of this DU affiliated college had also been given the opportunities over the years to learn how to prepare for tough entrance examinations. Shivaji College placements have been successful in placing many students in different types of job positions and companies.
The college has a dedicated training and placement cell which is in charge of conducting all the placement-related activities happening in the college. The Shivaji College placement cell organises internship fairs, lectures, seminars, and industry visits to help students in learning the nature of the workplace. It also invites several reputed companies and organisations to participate in the Shivaji College placements programme. The Shivaji College placement cell organised a job and internship fair, and more than 35 companies interviewed around 450 students there.
The college has a placement record of 50-60%. Students have received salary packages ranging from Rs 2.20 to Rs 3.6 LPA. The highest package offered to the students during the Shivaji College placements was Rs 7 LPA.
The Shivaji College recruitment department provides students with skill development training, mock interviews, aptitude tests, resume writing, etc. to give students an idea of how industries operate.
