Fordham University was founded in 1841 as St. John’s College by John Hughes. After years of restructuring, the college was transformed into a university in 1904 and was renamed as Fordham University. Fordham University was founded with an initiative to help individuals at an intellectual and spiritual level. Fordham University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and is listed in the QS World University Ranking 2021. Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) ranked Fordham University within the range of 801-1000.
Infrastructure, Campus & Courses
Fordham University has five campuses and educational centres in New York: Rose Hill- Bronx, NY, Lincoln Center- Manhattan, NY, Westchester- West Harrison, NY, The Louis Calder Center Biological Field Station, Armonk, NY and The Fordham University London Centre. Fordham University offers over 60 undergraduate degrees and over 130 graduate degrees and advanced certificate programmes to the students. All courses at the university are offered across nine undergraduate, graduate, and School of Professional and Continuing Studies and housing resident facilities at the university are offered at Rose Hill and Lincoln Center.

Numerous celebrities are counted among the University alumni body. Donald Trump, the current President of the United States, Emmy Award-winning actor Alan Alda and Academy Award-winner Denzel Washington are some of the popular names associated with the university. In addition, two Fordham alumni Nick Martinez and Fiona Murtagh earned medals at the 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo.
