Moreover, according to an Amity University alumnus, the rich: upper middle: middle-class average is around 1:4:10.

Our Take: As per the QS World University Ranking list, Amity University Noida has been placed in the same rank band in 2024, 2023 and 2022. However, the university has jumped 18 places from 2022 to 2023 in QS Asian University Rankings. If we analyse the NIRF Ranking, Amity University Noida could not retain its earlier position. However, it has managed to maintain its position in the ‘management’ category. Also, it has been placed in the law category at 23rd place for the first time in NIRF Ranking 2023. In the THE World University Rankings, except for the ‘Computer Science: Subject’ category, no significant buildout has been observed.
Amity University Noida Academia & Batch Size
Amity University Noida's course admissions is through merit, and for some courses, through entrance exams. Amity University follows the Choice-based Credit System (CBCS), allowing students to choose their choicest courses. Students receive their aggregate after continuous evaluation and end-term examination in the form of letter grades (A+, A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, F) on a ten-point scale. It follows a semester-based system, a multi-stage evaluation & appraisal process, and a bi-annual review by the Area Expert Committee, Board of Studies and the Academic Council.
The ‘Summer School’ is also a good opportunity for 10+2 pass-outs. It helps students plan their future better and guide them in finding the best course for themselves. However, charging INR 12,000 for each course is a tad too expensive.
It is a good thing to know that students are satisfied with the faculty and guest lecturers. In terms of courses, the CSE department has got the best reviews. Other popular courses among students are MBA, LLB and BTech. The weightage of the End Semester Examination and Internal Assessment Evaluation is 70:30. However, students cannot qualify IAE separately.
Empowering students to select their curriculum structure to focus on their career goals is good, but making them study 8-15 subjects per semester seems like a very stressful job. According to a few leading newspaper snippets, such hectic schedules took a toll on many student’s mental health. For such cases, the ‘Mentor-Mentee Concept’ of Amity is a good initiative. However, there is not much talk when asked about the same to the students.
Last but not least, what if a student is confused between two or three courses? In that scenario, spending INR 12,000 for a single course in Summer School is unreasonable! And there should be counsellors to guide students through the right route before they make a decision.
Fees:
Roughly, this is the breakdown of the fees charged to a student studying at Amity University Noida.
- Tuition Fees-30%
- Developmental Charges-5%
- Student Services-25%
- Infrastructure Charges-40%
Our Take: Grading system-wise, evaluation process-wise and even attendance-wise, Amity University Noida seems to be precise. Being a tier-3 college overall, Amity University is doing its bit to come at par with the tier-1 and tier-2 universities in terms of academia.
Amity University Noida Infrastructure
Library: The Central Library of Amity is the talk of the town. It is spread over a whooping 56,000 sq feet stocked with 2,00,000 + books. You will feel like you are inside a shopping hub. The good news is that there are escalators for an easy commute for the bookworms. Amity also claims to have ‘access to the world's best online journals’. EbscoHost, UGC-Infonet, INDEST-AICTE, IS1 and Delnet are a few online resources students have access to!
Learning Studios: Amity University Noida has lived up to its expectations. It has News & Virtual High Definition Double Height Studios with 4 live sets. A Newsroom with the latest WASP 3D Online Editing & Graphics Software with 16 Editing Bays and so on. Amity's own Community Radio Station (Radio Amity 107.8FM) is another jewel from the box.
Syndicate Rooms: Amity University claims that ‘300 students can brainstorm at the same time in 50 Syndicate Rooms.’ It is a very good initiative. Students can experience the corporate workplace environment and sharpen their critical thinking skills.
Laboratories: Amity University Noida has a total of 300 laboratories. The Biotechnology department has 65 labs alone, which is pretty neat. It also has moot courts. In today's competitive world, practical skills are much needed and Amity University Noida understands that!
Sports: Students claim that for those who have a passion towards extracurricular activities, Amity University is one of the best! An all-weather 8-layer ultra-cushion synthetic tennis court, 15-acre sports complex, Squash Courts, 20m Shooting Range, Basketball Court, Swimming Pool, Gym and many more. However, a gym membership of INR 12,000-13,000 every year is a little hard to bite!
Clubs and Committees: Many outsiders expressed that, ‘Amity University is all about party’. That is not the case, given the hectic schedule. But, Amity University Noida has made sure not to make their Jacks a dull boy! There are numerous clubs and committees and each student must compulsorily join a club or society of their choice. It makes students come out of their comfort zone. Talking about fests and events, there is hardly anyone left amongst the Bollywood Stars to visit the campus!
Hostel: Hostels at Amity University resemble any normal university except for the fees they charge. Moreover, students claim that the wardens are very strict and the rooms are small. A hostel room in Amity has a single-size bed, a table and chair and an almirah. In case, any student has to stay during their summer break to clear their backlogs, they must pay a fee of INR 6,500. Here is a glimpse of the fees charged by Amity University Noida for hostels. Students do not seem to be very satisfied with the hostel infrastructure and facilities available, they mentioned that they prefer living at the nearby PGs or renting a flat as the facilities are good over there.
Categories | Male | Female |
Non-A.C Rooms | INR 85,000 | INR 85,000 |
A.C Rooms | INR 1,60,000 | INR 1,60,000 |
A.C Bunks | INR 1,15,000 | INRs 1,15,000 |
Security Fees (Refundable) | INR 15,000 | INR 15,000 |
Security Fees (Non-Refundable) | INR 5,000 | INR 5,000 |
Other Facilities: Amity University Noida has a big parking facility, food outlets like Dominos and Subway, stationery shops, salons and so on and so forth. In fact, there are many food joints and shopping hubs near the university campus that students prefer chilling in and around the university campus which saves time and energy travelling to faraway places.
Our Take: Amity students have access to state-of-the-art facilities entitled to classrooms, syndicate rooms, auditoriums, laboratories, learning studios and libraries. Non-academic infrastructure-wise too, Amity University is not disappointing at all, except for its hostel facilities!
Amity University Noida Internships and Placements
Internships:
Amity University conducts regular internships for final-year students in companies and institutions such as Oriental Carbon and Chemicals Limited India, DIXON Technologies (I) Ltd., State Bank of India and many more. All the responsibilities related to internships are taken care of by the Amity Technical Placement Centre. Even though Amity has not disclosed any internship-related statistics, when reached out to the students they mentioned that internships are compulsory for each student.
Placements:
During the placement season, Amity University Noida sees a huge influx of students from all its nearby campuses. Considering the fact that Noida is a hub of many top-notch MNCs, the ROI is not that satisfactory. Against the fee payment of around INR 18,00,000, the median salary package is only INR 5.5 LPA. However, the blame cannot be directed towards the university wholly. According to an alumnus of the 2011-13 batch, 80% of students do not care about placements. The university is very good in terms of placement exposure. Again, whether it is the same across all the departments, the query remains unsolved!
As per the Amity University placement report 2023, a total of 11,000 offers were made and the highest salary offered was INR 61.75 LPA. Cisco, Flipkart, Airtel, Amazon, Accenture, Ford, HCL and Adobe were some of the top recruiters. Although in Amity University Noida, it seems that placement for B.Tech & average salary for CSE is most talked about, however, the university can focus on bettering some of the other courses' placements as well. According to its website, ‘Over 500 Top corporates including Fortune 500 employers, have visited the campus for recruitments’ However, when we spoke to students, the data did not seem to tally! Whether the university is exaggerating or the students are unaware, is something that we are trying to validate.
In the table below is the placement statistics for 2022 for Engineering and Architecture and MBA departments:
Amity University Placement 2022 Statistics: Engineering and Architecture
Total Students Intake | Students Admitted | Students Graduated | Students Placed | Students Opted for Higher Studies | Highest CTC (INR) | Median CTC (INR) |
1.77 K | 1.51 K | 1.49 K | 1.23 K | 97 | 58 LPA | 5.5 LPA |
Amity University Placement 2022 Statistics: MBA
Total Students Intake | Students Admitted | Students Graduated | Students Placed | Students Opted for Higher Studies | Median CTC (INR) |
960 | 877 | 833 | 411 | 16 | 5.5 LPA |
Our Take: Amity University has many dream companies visiting its campus for recruitment. However, the median salary explains that most of the students are placed through mass recruiting in companies and start-ups. The percentage of students placed is only 49% of the total number of MBA graduates. This surely needs to be improved considering the hefty fees charged every year!
Amity University Noida Diversity & Representation
Amity University is a co-ed institution with a women-men ratio of 32:68. The one reason that is evident is the ‘Gentry Stigma.’ When asked about the same to a woman student, she expressed that her parents did not prefer the university due to its rumours of being a ‘University of Millionaires.’ On the contrary, many students stated that it is just a ‘pre-admission’ viewpoint. Once the session starts, there is no such bridge. Nevertheless, the air around it is still heavy, Amity University needs to take some steps to cool it down.
Amity has students from all over the world. As per the QS World University Rankings 2024, the total number of international students at Amity University is 3820. Among them, 88% of the students are undergraduate and 12% are postgraduate students which is satisfactory.
Amity University Noida: Demographic Representation (as per NIRF Report 2023)
UG 4-Year | UG 5-Year | PG 2-Year
Within State | 2040 | 721 | 77 |
Outside State | 3961 | 1468 | 225 |
International Students | 20 | 4 | 1 |
Our Take: Analysing the above table, the students from states other than UP are keen to study at Amity University Noida, which is good. We need to compare it with the batch capacity to get a fair idea of the intake ratio. It also stands as a testament that students and parents are not basing their decisions on the hot air that surrounds Amity University Noida.
Amity University Noida: Gender Ratio Index (as per NIRF Report 2023)
UG 4-Year | UG 5-Year | PG 2-Year
Male | 4241 | 1281 | 171 |
Female | 1780 | 912 | 132 |
Percentage | 41.9% | 7.1% | 77.1% |
Our Take: With a 41.9% women to men ratio at 4-year UG level, 71% at 5-year UG level and a whopping 71% at 2-year PG level, a big thumbs up to Amity University for maintaining this dynamic.
Amity University Noida Faculty and College Administration/Management
According to the Amity University website, there are a total of 4500 academicians, scientists & researchers under the guidance of 11 former Vice-Chancellors. As per NIRF Report 2023, Amity University Noida currently provides education to 43944 students through 1729 faculties. Most of the teaching and visiting faculty are highly qualified with over a decade of experience. There are around 8-9 lecturers for each subject as stated by both ex-students and the ones currently studying in the university. Also, teacher absenteeism is rare. Kudos to Amity University for this!
As can be seen in many social media handles, ‘Attendance’ and ‘Amity’ have a close relationship with one another. Maintaining 75% attendance is a common criterion amongst all universities and colleges, nevertheless, the process of marking attendance is not taken well by the Amity students. Students have expressed that individual attendance is marked for every subject. Biometric attendance system is followed, which means, candidates have to complete their Face ID verification to get marked ‘green’ for attending a class. As stated by a third-year student, ‘ If a class starts at 10 A.M. and you have completed your verification at 10.01 A.M., you will be marked present for the next class instead of the 10 A.M. class.’ That’s a bit harsh, Amity! In case you have lost your ID card, you need to pay INR 5,000 for a duplicate one! We found this ridiculous and a cheap way to make money
If we talk about the attendance rules, Amity follows the ‘carrot and stick approach’ for sure! Students who have over 75% attendance in every subject are safe! Those within the range of 70-75% attendance, they face the B-Cap. It means that even though a student achieves 100 marks in a subject, he will be allotted only 70 marks. Those with below 70% attendance, even teachers won’t be able to let you sit in the exam! Looking at the bright side, Amity University allows students with over 80% attendance to earn extra marks in their final examinations.
Our Take: Amity University has strict rules, even more than required maybe. But this could be a conservative way to ensure that students focus on their studies instead of getting distracted by unnecessary activities.
Amity University Noida Location
Amity University Noida is known for having the best location among all its campuses. The students CLD reached out to have the same view on it. It is located at Sector 125, Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Located on the Noida Expressway, the nearest metro station is within a radius of five km. The closest airport, Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, is just 45 minutes away. An easy commute for students living outside the state!
Amity University Noida: Expectation vs Reality CollegeDekho Verdict
The word ‘Amity’ means friendliness and the university lives up to its name, indeed! In terms of exposure and facilities, Amity University came out with flying colours. Spread across 1000 acres of hi-tech campus, the university has provided ample opportunities for the student’s holistic development.
Known to be one of the ‘hep’ universities, Amity University introduced a new dress code in the recent past. As per the new dress code, the university has disallowed jeans, T-shirts, skirts or sneakers on campus. If news is to be believed, Amity University students reacted to the new dress code in the form of protests.
Amity University has set some strict rules on its campus, which aligns with its tagline - ‘Education first’. But whether or not this transcends into real learning of the students, is something that we are also evaluating. But whatever Amity Noida is doing sure has faced some backlash from amongst its students, like:
- Busy schedule for students - students have complained that they are so worked up, that they have very little or no time to enjoy their college life!
- Short lunch breaks - Students have complained about the short lunch breaks they are allowed, considering that they need around 5-7 minutes to move from one department to another. And with 7-8 classes in a day, they feel immensely rushed!
- Amity University has two shifts. The morning shift gets an added advantage over the evening batch. For example, the foreign exchange programme can only be availed by morning batch students.
- Hostel students have claimed that they can go outside only on the weekends. During weekdays, they must take parental approval. Even though the intent may be good, it does cause stress to the students for staying within the campus 269 days of the year. It is a bit of a concern in case of medical emergencies as well.
