One of the most challenging choices for students at the age of 15-16 is selecting one of the three main streams - Sciences, Humanities, or Commerce - to pursue after their class 10th exams. This decision will significantly impact their next two years of study and potentially their future careers. As such, it's natural for students to have concerns and conduct extensive research to make the best possible choice. Now that you've opted to pursue a career in commerce, this article will offer a comprehensive overview of the various options available to you after completing your Class 10th exams.

What is Commerce?

Commerce is a field of study that focuses on trade and commercial activities such as the exchange of products and services from the producer to the end-user. Economics, Accountancy, and Business Studies are among the subjects covered in the Commerce stream in Class 11th and 12th. Commerce Stream is simple for students who are comfortable working with large amounts of data and have a basic understanding of finance and economics. Candidates must be knowledgeable in areas and issues such as bookkeeping, accounting, economics, and business studies, among others. After Class 10th, candidates who have a genuine interest in this profession should enroll in the Commerce program.

Types of Commerce Courses After 10th

After completing Class 10th, colleges/ universities offer three different types of commerce courses:-

  • Professional Courses: The student can pursue a number of professional courses after class 10th. They can prepare for these courses while in school and in college and finish the courses along with their graduation. The duration of these courses is usually 3-6 Years. For example, if you choose a CA course, the duration of the course is 6.5 Years. 

  • Undergraduate Courses: A student can choose from a variety of bachelor's degree programs in commerce. All of the commerce courses are designed to help students gain the skills and knowledge needed in each profession. The duration of these courses is usually 3 years such as B.Com, BBA, BMS, BHM etc

Which Commerce Course should I choose after Class 10th

If this occurs, you can always seek help from your instructors, school counselors, parents, and older siblings or seniors at your school. These people are knowledgeable and have been through similar traumas. Allow them to talk about their experiences. You never know how useful that may be to you. You can also take field visits to workplaces that are relevant to your career goals. This will help you become more familiar with the workplace and give you a sense of responsibility you will be handling. This may assist you in making a decision.

  • In addition, candidates must have also studied- Mathematics, Economics and Accounts as one of their main subjects.

B.A. Economics Colleges in India

Bachelor of Business Studies

  • Passed Class 12th with minimum 50 to 60% marks

  • And have studied English as one of their main subjects.

BBS Colleges in India

B.A (Hons.) Business Economics/ B.Com.(with specialization in Business Economics)

  • Passed 10+2 with English & Mathematics as main subjects.

  • And have secured at least 55% in class 12th exams.

Business Economics Colleges in India

Bachelor of Accounting and Finance (BAF)

  • Passed 10+2 in any stream from any recognized board.

  • And have secured a minimum of 50% marks in the class 12th exam. In addition, candidates must have studied Accounts & Finance in Class 12th.

BAF Colleges in India

Bachelor of Financial Markets (BFM)

  • Passed 10+2 in any stream from any recognized board.

  • Candidates with a background in mathematics and economics are given priority.

BFM Colleges in India

Bachelor in Banking and Insurance (BBI)

  • Passed 10+2 in any stream from any recognized board.

  • And have secured a minimum of 50% marks in the Class 12th exam.

BBI Colleges in India
