CUET 2024 English Test Preparation Tips
The CUET exam requires candidates to approach their preparation strategically for all the topics in the syllabus. Provided below are some important preparation tips for getting top marks in CUET English exam:
Understand the Exam’s Objective
Primarily, an aspirant must try to understand the intent of the entrance exam. What the examiner/exam aims to test/assess in the candidate. How are they expected to perform in the CUET? These are questions that one should consider. Based on this one should chart out their exam plan and study routine.
Divide the syllabus categories
One should divide the syllabus into categories. Aspirants should distribute their time and effort equally for these categories. Students are suggested to prepare a strategy for each of the categories they will be assessed on. This will help them bring structure to their study routine. For an example, one can allot half an hour for each of the following sections to learn and practice. These are the topics candidates need to focus on:
- Reading Comprehension
- Verbal ability
- Rearranging the parts
- Choosing the correct words
- Synonyms and antonyms
- Vocabulary
Improve Vocabulary
Unlike common assumptions, one should not leave the vocabulary for the end. Learning a stretch of words will not only help in the vocabulary section, but also in reading comprehension, verbal ability and in every other section. Using the learnt words in daily usage is one of the ways to remember them. Try employing them in their regular conversation as well as in writing.
Practice Wisely
Candidates should schedule practice time in their study routine. Consistently working on weightage topics and difficult topics will drastically boost the confidence and improve the mock scores of candidates. Also, candidates should make it a hobby to read books out of their comfort zone, newspapers, and magazines. This helps broaden students’ perspectives and adds to their vocabulary.
Time Management
Being able to manage time is a skill that candidates have to master. Allocating time for studying and practicing in a 1:2 ratio is necessary. Aspirants must practice mock test papers on time, whether they are hard copies or soft copies/online. Candidates can significantly improve their speed once they practice sample papers and questions regularly.
