General Aptitude Section

The General Aptitude section will be compulsory for all the candidates. There will be a total of 10 questions in GA sections. The first 5 questions will consist of 1 mark each and the remaining 5 questions will carry 2 marks each.

Marking Scheme

The MCQ will be of 1 and 2 marks. For 1 mark questions, 1/3rd marks will be deducted and for 2 marks questions, 2/3rd marks will be deducted for incorrect answers. There will be no negative marking for numerical based questions.

Will there be any negative marking in GATE Electrical Engineering 2024?

Yes. There will be negative markings on the GATE Electrical Engineering 2024 paper. For MCQs of 1 and 2 marks, 1/3 and 2/3 marks will be deducted respectively for wrong answers. However, for wrong NAT answers, no negative mark will be awarded to candidates. 

Which subject has more weightage in GATE EE?

Some of the important topics of GATE 2024 electrical engineering are- Network Theory, Control Systems, Signal and Systems, Digital Electronics, and Measurements.
 

What is the weightage of electrical subjects in GATE?

There are three paper sections, each carrying a different weightage of marks. Electrical Engineering contributes 72%, Engineering Mathematics takes up 13% and General Aptitude makes up for 15%
 

What is the rank for 70 marks in GATE EE?

A rank between 500 to 1000 can be fetched with 70 marks in GATE Electrical Engineering.
