IIT Placements 2023-24: IIT Placements 2023-24 commenced for the top IITs on December 1, 2023, with crore-plus offers from trading and investment firms. IIT Kharagpur has bagged over 700 offers with 6 offers of more than INR 1 crore per annum. At IIT Delhi, 1,050 students have been placed in top firms, while 989 offers have been made at IIT Kanpur. With 1,340 job offers made to IIT Bombay graduates, 22 students secured lucrative salary packages of above INR 1 crore per annum. IIT placements across India are usually conducted between December and May. While the highest package of IIT in 2023-24, as recorded by IIT Kharagpur, stood at INR 2.68 CPA, the IIT average package ranges from INR 20-50 LPA. Some top recruiters at IITs include Capital One, Oracle, Nutanix, Boston Consulting Group, Bain & Company, McKinsey & Company, JP Morgan Chase, Bajaj, etc.

Top IIT Placements

IIT Madras Placements

IIT Madras has completed Phase 1 of its 2023-24 placement drive. According to reports, around 50% of the students have already been hired by top MNCs and recruiters such as Amazon, EY, JP Morgan, TCS, Bajaj Auto Limited, and Adobe. Additionally, over 55% of the recruited candidates are from economically backward classes. IIT Madras has also seen a nearly 19% increase in internship opportunities. The median IIT jobs list with salary offered was over INR 19 Lakhs, with the highest package received by B. Tech and M. Tech students being INR 1.31 CPA and INR 54.21 LPA, respectively. The highest package of IIT Madras offered to a PhD student during Phase 1 Placement 2023-24 was INR 35.89 LPA.

According to media sources, 1,091 students have been placed in phases I and II of the 2023-24 placements. More than 80% of BTech/Dual Degree students and 75% of Master's degree students have been placed by April 30, 2024. In addition, 235 of the 300 PPOs given were accepted. There were a total of 256 participating firms. Furthermore, 44 overseas offers were extended.

IIT Kharagpur Placements 

Phase I of the IIT Kharagpur 2023-24 placement process began on December 1, and all the students participated in person. After the first day of recruitment, over 61 companies offered 771 placements to students for various roles, including core engineering, banking and finance, software, consulting, and more. Top recruiters such as Microsoft, Google, Databricks, and Apple emerged. There were over 121 job profiles available, including 19 international offers. On the first day of the placement drive, 6 students were offered an annual package of over INR 1 Crore. 

IIT Delhi Placements

The class of 2024 at IIT Delhi received 1,050 job offers in the first phase of placements. Out of these, 20 international firms from Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, the USA, and the Netherlands made 50 job offers. A total of 370 international and domestic companies participated in the IIT Delhi placements for 2023-24. Phase I of the placements presented over 660 job profiles across various sectors. Students from IIT Delhi received direct international job offers from countries such as Singapore, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, South Korea, Japan, the United States, and the UK. Although the higher-value packages offered during the placements have not been disclosed, the expected IIT average package after placement will range between INR 60 Lakh and INR 70 Lakh, with the highest package tentatively around INR 1.5 Crores.

IIT Bombay Placements 

IIT Bombay witnessed 4 students securing offers of more than one crore from Samsung, Korea. Over 20 students were placed in various job roles at Qualcomm, with an average IIT jobs list with salary package ranging from INR 60 lakh to INR 80 lakh. This year, 193 students were placed, a significant increase from the 183 placements last year.  According to media sources, 22 students received job offers for more than INR 1 crore per annum during the first round of IIT Bombay placements 2023-24. The majority of the highest packages have been earned in the Research Development sector, with the IIT average package currently standing at INR 36.90 LPA, over 14% more than last year. Furthermore, 63 students accepted overseas offers during the first phase. The 1,188 students that were placed received a total of 1,340 job offers. This comprises seven PSUs and 297 PPOs. Apple, Airbus, Google, Intel, and many more firms participated in IIT Bombay placements in 2024.

IIT Kanpur Placements

The first round of IIT Kanpur's 2023-24 placement drive concluded successfully, with a total of 989 offers, including 22 international ones. Out of these, 913 students have secured employment, including those with Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs), showcasing the institute's commitment to providing excellent career opportunities despite fluctuating market conditions. Key recruiters for the placement drive included Texas Instruments, Qualcomm, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, and Navi. The average salary for IIT Kanpur graduates is an impressive Rs 26.27 LPA (lakh per annum), underscoring the high caliber of the graduating talent. In comparison to 2022, the top domestic package for 2023 saw a growth of over 58%. Additionally, 33 students were placed for INR 1 Crore across national and international organizations, while the highest domestic package was valued at INR 1.9 Crore.

IIT Guwahati Placements 

The placement report released by IIT Guwahati revealed that the highest international package offered was INR 2.4 CPA, while the highest domestic package stood at INR 1.2 CPA. A total of 246 major companies from IT/Software, Finance, and Non-Tech Profile sectors secured the most placements, followed by the Core Engineering, Design, and Education sectors. The percentage of companies with an overall placement rate of 78.04% showed an increase of approximately 37%. MDes program had the highest placement rate among all programs, standing at 89.66%. Notable recruiters included HPCL, Navi, Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, Schlumberger, Piramal, TVS R&D, and GAIL.

IIT Roorkee Placements

During the phase-1 placements at IIT Roorkee in 2024, a total of 802 offers were made, out of which 23 were international offers. Notably, Databricks offered a student a remarkable salary package worth INR 2.05 crore per annum during the first round of placements in the 2023–2024 academic year. Additionally, the MBA package offered in 2023 saw an increase of more than 8% compared to the previous year. A total of 172 companies participated in the round 1 placements at IIT Roorkee, showcasing the diverse opportunities available to the students.

IIT Placements: Process

All IITs adhere to the detailed IIT placement process listed below for each student.

• With the help of student representatives, the Training & Placement Cell (a distinct unit at each IIT) extends invitations to companies accompanied by pertinent documents and information, such as the Job Announcement Form (JAF) and Placement Brochure.

• A company can also express interest in hiring students by contacting the relevant IITs' T&P Cell. They must email the T&P department at the IITs that interest them.

• T&P Cell will respond to the companies via email following receipt of a completed JAF and pertinent data from them. Based on the data in the JAF, dates are assigned for campus interviews.

• The T&P Cell and the organizations consult to determine an appropriate date for the Pre-Placement Talk (PPT). Upon notification from the companies, students are informed of the PPT date.

• Next, the companies visit IIT campuses to conduct the PPT.

• During the placement drive, companies may offer summer internships to pre-final year students who are interested.

• Interested students can register online with a specific company to submit their resumes or CVs for consideration for a shortlist.

• Before the campus visit for the final interviews, companies email the T&P Cell with the list of students who are shortlisted.

• On the designated dates, the companies come to the campus to make placements and hold group discussions, aptitude tests, technical tests, and personal interviews.

• Following the conclusion of the selection process, the companies provide the final list of selected students either on the same day or within a few days.
