IIT Ropar begins M.Tech admissions in the month of March every year. The M.Tech admission process of IIT Ropar will continue for two months. The admission process begins only after the announcement of GATE results, as the admissions are solely based on GATE merit. Aspirants must register on the official website of IIT Ropar and the GATE Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP). IIT Ropar M.Tech Admission Process through GATE 2024

IIT Ropar offers M.Tech admission to GATE qualifiers as well as IIT B.Tech graduates. More details are elaborated below: -

GATE-Based M.Tech Admission Process: IIT Ropar GATE-based M.Tech admission process will commence after the announcement of GATE results. Primarily, IIT Ropar will come up with a GATE cutoff for different M. Tech specializations and release a merit list of applicants eligible for admission as per the cutoff. IIT Ropar will upload the admission offer on the official website of GATE COAP, and the candidates must accept the offer to confirm the admission. Such candidates will have to pay the course fee and report to the Institute on or before the prescribed date. The candidates must submit original documents/ academic certificates while reporting to the college.

IIT Ropar will make the first admission offer in May, and the candidates who do not secure a seat in the preferred M.Tech specialization can reject the admission offer and upgrade their choices. Such candidates will be offered admission in the preferred course as per merit and availability of seats. IIT Ropar will conduct a second-round admission process only if seats fall vacant after the first round. In 2020, IIT Ropar conducted seven rounds of admissions to fill seats in the M.Tech course.

M.Tech Admission Process for IIT B.Tech Graduates: Candidates who have passed B. Tech courses from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) can get direct admission in M.Tech at IIT Ropar. These candidates must have at least an 8.00 (7.5 for SC/ ST) CGPA out of 10 in a B.Tech degree to be eligible for admission. General Eligibility Criteria for M.Tech Courses:

• Candidates with 60% marks in B.E/ B.Tech/ M.Sc degree are eligible to apply for the M.Tech course offered by IIT Ropar.
• Along with educational qualification, the candidates must have a valid GATE score 2024/ 2023/ 2022.

Eligibility Criteria for IIT B.Tech Graduates:

• IIT B.Tech graduates can take direct admission in the M.Tech course of IIT Ropar if they have an 8.0 CGPA (7.5 for SC/ ST) on a 10-point scale.
• These candidates are exempted from the requirement of GATE.

Registration for M.Tech Course through IIT Ropar Website: - Submitting the online application form on the official website of IIT Ropar will involve the following stages: -

Create Account:

• The candidates must visit the official website of IIT Ropar, and click on the link that indicates ‘Admissions’ on the homepage. Select M.Tech admissions.

• The candidates will see two options ‘Login’ or ‘Register Yourself’.

• Click on the link that indicates ‘Create New Account.

• Enter a Login Name of your choice and a valid E-Mail ID.

• You will receive an e-mail containing the IIT Ropar mail-id activation link.

• The candidates must click on the activation link to validate their accounts.

• Now, login and set a new password.

• Your account will be created, and proceed with the next stage, i.e., online form filling for M.Tech admission.

M.Tech Application Form Filling:

• The candidate must log in with a Login ID and Password to submit the online application form for M.Tech admission.

• The candidate must enter their GATE admit card number/ roll number to proceed with the online application.

• Fill in all the details such as personal, academic, and educational.

• Upload the prescribed documents.

• Pay the application fee.

• Take the printout of the application form.
