Types of Degrees Offered in NIT Colleges in India
After the IITs, the NITs are India's most prestigious engineering institutes. NIT colleges in India offer a variety of undergraduate, postgraduate, and dual degree programmes that candidates can pursue. NIT Colleges in India 2025: Eligibility Criteria
The NIT admission process is entirely merit-based. Mentioned below is the eligibility criteria for securing admission into the top NIT colleges in India.
Candidates are required to qualify their 10+2 with a minimum aggregate of 75% marks from a recognized Board. Candidates from SC/ST category are provided with a relaxation of up to 65%
For BTech admission, candidates are required to qualify for the JEE Main and GATE for admission into ME/ MTech courses
For other popular programmes such as MBA, MCA, MSc, etc, candidates are required to qualify for entrance exams such as CAT, NIMCET, IIT JAM, etc.
Candidates who qualify for the entrance exams may be also required to appear for Group discussions or personal interview rounds.
As per the current NIT admission policy, half of the total seats at NITs are reserved for candidates who have cleared their Class 12 from the particular state where the NIT is situated. The remaining half is allotted based on the AIR (All India Ranks) secured by candidates from different states.
