SEED 2024 for BDes Admission: Candidates applying for B.Des courses in top design schools in India may sit for the SEED entrance exam. The Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design or SEED is conducted once a year by Symbiosis Pune. For the 2024-25 academic year, the SEED entrance exam was held on January 14, 2024, and candidates attended the same as per the slot allotted to them. It was held in online mode, remote-procured and the question paper consisted of 60 questions.
Results of this entrance exam will be made available on January 24, 2024, on the official website. Candidates must note that as per their score in the written entrance exam, they will be shortlisted for the other selection rounds which include Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction (PRPI) round. The list of qualified candidates will be released on January 30, 2024. The full and final merit list for BDes admission will consist of multiple factors adding to the selection including the SEED written entrance exam, portfolio review, personal interaction and PRPI task.
The BDes program can be pursued by the candidates across different specialisations such as graphic design, product design, fashion design, fashion communication, video film design, user experience design, animation film design and interior space design. SID offers a total of 180 seats for the BDes program and 27 reserved seats for international students.

How to Apply for SEED 2024?
Candidates appearing for the SEED exam have to register online on the official website of SET (Symbiosis Entrance Test) conducted by the Symbiosis International University. The applicants are required to go through the step by step procedure mentioned below in order to fill the application form of the SEED 2024.
First Step: To register and fill the SID Application Form
Given below are the steps to fill the SEED 2024 application form.
The candidates are required to visit the official website of SET and fill up all the required personal and academic details.
While selecting the preferred disciple, aspirants need to go to the morning session and select the SEED (SET-Design) option. The SEED 2024 examination is conducted in the morning session only.
The aspirants are advised to fill the SEED test city preference very carefully as once the online transaction is done, no changes for the test city will be entertained.
Candidates need to upload their photo in .png/ .gif/ .jpg/ .jpeg format. They also need to keep in mind that the size of the photo should be somewhere between 10 KB and 500 KB.
By completing the registration process, unique SET ids for the applicants are generated.
Second Step: To pay the application fees
The application fees for the SEED 2024 is Rs. 1,750. Candidates can pay the fees through the online payment method or they can also select the choice of DD (Demand Draft)
Online Method- The candidates are required to make the payment through the options of Billdesk Gateway, Indian Bank Gateway and Ease Buzz Gateway.
Candidates who wish to apply for both, morning, as well as afternoon sessions, need to pay Rs. 3,500.
Demand Draft Method- Applicants can also pay the fees of SEED 2024 through DD (Demand Draft) from any nationalised bank. The DD must be drawn in favour of the Symbiosis Test Secretariat and is payable at Pune. Candidates need to select DD from the Make Payment option. The aspirants need to take a printout of the payment advice form, sign after filling in the DD details and send it along with the DD to the address mentioned below.

After the aforementioned steps are completed, the candidates will receive an email confirmation consisting of the application number. Admit card will be issued to only those who receive the email. The candidate then needs to register at the specific institutes of Symbiosis International University for admission. Here, a separate non-refundable payment of Rs.1,000/- per programme per institute is to be made.
SEED 2024 Admission Process
The BDes admission process through the SEED entrance exam is held as per the conducting body. So, let’s have a look at the steps which are included:
- Step 1. Apply for the SEED exam: Eligible candidates must register themselves for the SEED exam on the official website before the deadline. It also includes document upload, entering valid academic, and personal information, along with application fee submission.
- Step 2. Download the admit card: Candidates who have registered with valid details will be able to download the admit card from the official website. Admit card along with photo ID proof must be carried on the final day at the exam centre.
- Step 3. Sit for the entrance exam: Then, students have to appear for the entrance exam.
- Step 4. Wait for the shortlisting: Candidates will be shortlisted after the SEED entrance exam for the PRPI round. For the second round, candidates are required to submit their portfolio and PRPI task followed by a personal interaction round.
- Step 5. Result declaration: The result will be declared based on all the rounds of selection. It will be released on the official website.
- Step 6. Counselling & Seat allotment round: In the counselling round, candidates will be allotted seats based on the merit rank of SEED. Candidates have to pay the admission fee to secure their seats otherwise their seats will be cancelled.
SEED 2024 Eligibility Criteria
Aspirants are required to satisfy the eligibility criteria of the SID and SSPAD before filling the application form of the SEED exam. Listed below are the conditions that need to be met before applying for the BDes course at SID.
The candidate must have qualified class 12 from any stream/10+3 Diploma programme or its equivalent with the minimum aggregate of 50%.
Candidates falling under the reserved categories get 5% relaxation. They can apply for SEED 2024 with a score of 45% aggregate.
A candidate appearing for the class 12/ 10+3 Diploma final exams can also apply for the entrance exam given that he/she must be able to produce the required qualification documents before or at the time of admission.
Aspirants with brilliant artistic and creative skills will be given preference in the examination.
Indians, as well as students from abroad, can apply for the SEED examination. The NRI/Foreign National students have to apply from Symbiosis Centre for International Education.

The admit card of SEED 2024 is generated on the official website of SID (Symbiosis Institute of Design) and SSPAD (Symbiosis School of Planning, Architecture and Design, Nagpur). The SEED 2024 admit card PDF was made available for download from January 6-14, 2024 from the official website by entering the login ID and password. SEED 2024 Syllabus
Candidates can go through the inductive topics from which the questions are asked in the SEED test. They are measured as per their aptitude in design and creativity. SEED syllabus 2024 has questions that assess students on the basis of their observational skills, perceptual and reasoning abilities, visualisation, creative and problem-solving abilities and application of basic knowledge of Maths and Science. Creative and Problem Solving Abilities- The candidates’ ability to visualise and relate to the images with the idea is judged in this section. Also, the skill of the candidate to identify the problems and provide a solution is analysed.
Visualisation- This section includes comprehension of complex and simple 2D and 3D geometric shapes, their spatial relationships and manipulations through demonstration in geometric and pictorial forms.
Application of basic knowledge of Science and Mathematics- Observing and analysing basic principles of Maths and Science (up to class 10) and their application comprises the questions of this section. Finding the relevance of them in day to day life is also formulated as questions.
Observational, perceptual and reasoning abilities- The candidate’s ability to view and see objects beyond the obvious boundaries are scrutinised in this section. Apart from that, the capability of making connections, form comparisons and opinions, and draw meaning is also examined. It is required for the candidate to have excellent observational skills and the ability to present their opinion/idea in a systematic form.
Craft, art, design, culture and environment- The general awareness of an aspirant in the sphere of craft, art, design, culture, and environment is also assessed in both, Indian as well as global context. Various questions on topics related to tools, material, people, technique, influence, periods, issues and concerns and contemporary trends are framed to evaluate the potential of the student.
