The National Testing Agency has released the CUET 2024 Performing Arts Syllabus . Based on the most recent CUET Performing Arts Syllabus 2024, the syllabus has been divided into four main sections . Section A covers Melodic Vocal and Instrumental Hindustani and Karnataka Music; Section B focuses on to Dance; Section C is aimed to Hindustani and Karnataka Percussion Music; and Section D is given to Drama/Theatre. Candidates may choose one section from each of these options. The CUET UG 2024 official website has the syllabus available for download. The CUET UG 2024 is being conducted on May 15 to May 24, 2024. NTA will conduct 15 test papers in offline mode from May 15 to May 18 and 48 subjects will be held in CBT mode from May 21 to May 24, 2024. As the CUET UG 2024 exam will be conducted in 7 days with a single shifts, there would be no normalization process of score.

Latest Update: The CUET 2024 Admit Card has been made live for the upcoming CUET exams that will be conducted in CBT mode on May 21st, 22nd and 24th, 2024 by the NTA on its official website. NTA has released the admit card of CUET 2024 for three days on the official portal. Candidates are requested to download the CUET 2024 admit card from here and appear in the examination.

CUET 2024 Overview

CUET 2024 exam will be held in a Computer Based Test mode online. A total of 50 questions will be asked in the entrance test and candidates will have to attempt only 40 questions out of them. Performing Arts domain consists of forms/variations that are presented to a audience. Candidates should also go through the CUET exam pattern that would be valuable for their preparation. The exam will consist of:

  • Section IA & Section IB as language tests.

  • Section II as domain-specific test (for example: Performing Arts, History, Archeology etc.)

  • Section III will be a General Test.

The Performing Arts exam will be divided into three sections: A, B, and C, representing dance, drama-theatre, and music, respectively. Candidates can attempt any of the aforementioned parts. Sections A and C will be divided into sub-parts, with only one of them needing to be attempted.The entrance exam will be held at a number of exam centres both in India and outside the country.

Overview of CUET 2024 Performing Arts Syllabus

Before going through the overview of the CUET Performing Arts Syllabus 2024, it is crucial to understand the Structure of CUET 2024 . Section A (Dance) and Section B (Music) are subdivided into sections. Aspirants need to attempt any one of the following:

Section A (Hindustani- Karnatak Music)

U1:Definition of Sangeet, Nad, Shruti, Swara- Shuddha, Komal, Teevra, Pitch-Intensity – Timbre, GramMurcchana etc.

U2: - Basic knowledge of Vadi, Samvadi, Anuvadi, Vivadi, Uttarang, Puravang, Aroh, Avroh, Pakad, etc.

U3: Laya & Tala

U4: Knowledge of Musical Forms

U5: Contribution of musicians & composers

U6: Musical Instruments & its Classification

Section B (Dance)

U1: – Brief knowledge of classical dances of India U2: - Life sketches of chief exponents and contributors of different dance forms
U3: Sangeet, Natan Bheda ( Natya, Nritta, Nritya)  Tandav, Lasya  Lokdharmi, Natyadharmi U4: Abhinaya Darpan, Natya Shastra, Abhinaya Chandrika, Hasta Lakshana deepika and Major folk dances of India
U5: Survey of classical dance practice -

Section C (Percussion Music- Hindustani & Karnataka )

U1: Tabla, Pakhawaj & Mridangam

U2:Varnas of Tabla, Pakhawaj and Mridangam.

U3: Tala, Matra,Tali, Khali, Vibhag, Tihai, Sam ...etc

U4: Elementary knowledge of the Bhatkhande Tala Notation System & Karnatak Tala Notation System.

U5: Brief study of origin of Tabla,Pakhawaj and Mridangam. U6: Teentala, Jhaptala,Ektala, Rupak, Keharwa & Dadra
U7: Biographies:

Section D (Drama- Theatre)
U1: Introduction to Indian Classical and Traditional Theatre U2: Modern/ Contemporary Indian Theatre
U3: Introduction to Western Classical and Medieval Drama U4: Modern/Contemporary Western Theatre
