In this section, we will be looking at some of the popular entrance exams conducted for M.Tech admissions in the Karnataka state every year. The list of Karnataka M.Tech admissions entrance test contains some national-level, state-level and institute-level entrance exams -

  • GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test Engineering) - GATE is a national-level entrance exam conducted for M.Tech and M.E admissions along with M.S and Direct PhD admissions in institutes of national repute like the IITs, IISc etc. Every year, one of the IITs and IISc conducts GATE exam on a rotational basis.
  • Karnataka Post Graduate Common Entrance Test (Karnataka PGCET) - Karnataka Examinations Authority has re-released the Karnataka PGCET Application Form on June 26, 2024 for Karnataka MTech Admissions 2024. The application form has been released on the official website. The last date to submit the online application form is July 7, 2024. Moreover, the re-release of the application form follows the delay of the examination. Karnataka PGCET 2024 has been rescheduled until further notice.
  • Manipal Entrance Test (MET) - Karnataka M.Tech aspirants can also apply for M.Tech admissions in the Manipal University via the Manipal Entrance Test (MET). Manipal Entrance Test (MET) is a national-level entrance exam and a candidate can appear thrice in the MET for M.Tech admissions offered at Manipal University.   • PES Scholastic Aptitude Test (PESSAT) - Karnataka M.Tech aspirants can also appear in the PES University Bangalore’s M.Tech admission test called the PES Scholastic Aptitude Test or PESSAT to pursue M.Tech. Anchor Eligibility Criteria for Karnataka M.Tech Admissions 2024

For M.Tech admissions at the institutes offering M.Tech in Karnataka, the aspirants have to check a certain set of eligibility criteria to be able to apply for Karnataka M.Tech admissions. The eligibility criteria for admission into the M.Tech programme offered at various Karnataka colleges are as follows -

  • Candidates should have completed their B.Tech degree study in a relevant specialization
  • The B.Tech degree of the applicants should be from a recognised University
  • The applicants must have an aggregate score of 50% (45% for reserved category applicants) at the qualifying examination
  • Candidates must have appeared in entrance exams like GATE or Karnataka PGCET and must have secured the minimum cutoff marks for M.Tech admissions at Karnataka colleges

Application Form for Karnataka M.Tech Admission 2024

Shortlisted candidates have to fill in the Karnataka PGCET counselling application form for M.Tech admissions in Karnataka colleges. First, the candidates have to visit their nearest KEA helpline centres to get an extensive idea about the Karnataka PGCET counselling process. Thereafter, the candidates have to register themselves for the counselling process with the help of their application number. Then, the candidates have to get their documents verified, choose their options followed by the allotment of seat procedure, fee payment and reporting at the institute where the seat has been allocated. Candidates with a valid GATE score can also apply for the Karnataka M.Tech admissions through the process mentioned above.

Candidates applying for Karnataka M.Tech admissions through GATE score do not have to appear in the Karnataka PGCET Entrance exam. In the first round of the seat allotment process, first preference will be given to the GATE-qualified candidates followed by the PGCET rank holders.

Dear student, According to the Vignan's LARA Institute of Technology & Science website, the cut-off for the CSE(AI&ML) course for OC category in the 2022-23 academic year was 40,000. So, with a rank of 42,000, your chances of getting admission to this course are slim. However, you can still try your luck by applying for the course and hoping that there are enough seats available after the first round of admissions.
