Q1. 4f 2 electronic configuration is found in:

a. Pr

b. Pr 3+

c. Nd 3+

d. Pm 3+

Ans: b. Pr 3+

Solution:

Let's consider the elements:

Pr (Praseodymium) has an atomic number of 59 and a ground-state electron configuration of [Xe]4f 3 6s 2 .

Pr 3+ (Praseodymium ion) will lose 3 electrons. It loses the two 6s electrons and one from the 4f orbital. So, the configuration is [Xe]4f 2 .

Nd 3+ Neodymium ion) with an atomic number of 60, in its ground state, has the configuration [Xe] 4f 4 6s 2 . When it loses 3 electrons (two from 6s and one from 4f), its configuration is [Xe] 4f 3 .

Pm 3+ (Promethium ion) with an atomic number of 61, in its ground state, it has the configuration [Xe] 4f 5 6s 2 . When it loses 3 electrons (two from 6s and one from 4f), its configuration is [Xe] 4f 4 .

So, the 4f 2 electronic configuration is found in Pr 3+ . Therefore, option b is correct.

Q2. Suppose a gaseous mixture of He, Ne, Ar, and Kr is treated with photons of the frequency appropriate to ionize Ar. What ion(s) will be present in the mixture?

a. Ar +

b. Ar + + Kr +

c. Ar + + He + + Ne +

d. He + + Ar + + Kr +

Ans: b. Ar + + Kr +

Solution:

The order of ionization energy of given elements is He > Ne > Ar > Kr. Since the energy of a photon is sufficient to ionize both Ar and Kr. Therefore, the mixture contains Ar+ + Kr+ .

Q3. The correct pair of electron affinity order is:

a. O>S, F>Cl

b. O<S, Cl>F

c. S>O, F>Cl

d. S<O, Cl>F

Ans: b. O<S, Cl>F

Solution:

Electron affinity of S > O and Cl > F. This is so because of the small size of oxygen and fluorine (in respective case), due to which they got higher charge density and thus electronic repulsion increases when a new electron is added.

Q4. 5.75 mg of sodium vapor is converted to sodium ion. If the ionization energy of sodium is 490 kJ mol -1 and its atomic weight is 23 units, the amount of energy needed for this conversion will be:

a. 1.96 kJ

b. 1960 kJ

c. 122.5 kJ

d. 0.1225 kJ

Ans: d. 0.1225 kJ

Solution:

IE Na = 490 kJ/mol

Number of moles of Sodium(Na) presents,

IE Na = 490 kJ/mol

Number of moles of Sodium(Na) present,

η Na = m Na (g)/M Na

= 5.75 x 10 -3 /23

IE Na = 0.1225 kJ

Q5. Which of the following contains a maximum number of lone pairs on the central atom?

a. CIO 3 -

b. XeF 4

c. SF 4

d. I 3 -

Ans: d. I 3 -

Q6. The molecular shapes of SF 4 , CF 4 , and XwF 4 are:

a. The same with 2, 0, and 1 lone pairs of electrons on the central atoms, respectively

b. The same with 1, 1, and 1 lone pairs of electrons on the central atoms, respectively

c. Different with 0, 1, and 2 lone pairs of electrons on the central atoms, respectively

d. Different with 1, 0, and 2 lone pairs of electrons on the central atoms, respectively

Ans: d. Different with 1, 0, and 2 lone pairs of electrons on the central atoms, respectively

Q7. The species in which the nitrogen atom is in a state of sp hybridization is:

a. NO 3 -

b. NO 2

c. NO 2 +

d. N0 2 -

Ans: c. NO 2 +

Solution:

Among the given options NO 2 + has nitrogen in sp-hybridization

Number of electronic lobes

= 2 + 1/2[5-4-1]

= 2 (Bond pairs) + 0 (Lone pairs)

Thus NO 2 + has sp-hybridization

Q8. In the Bayer's process, the leaching of alumina is done by using:

a. Na 2 CO 3

b. NaOH

c. SiO 2

d. CaO

Ans: b. NaOH

Q9. How many P - O - P linkages are there in P 4 O 10 ?

a. Six

b. Four

c. Five

d. One

Ans: a. Six

Q10. The calculated spin-only magnetic moment values in BM for [FeCl 4 ] - and [Fe(CN) 6 ] 3- are:

a. 5.9 BM, 1.732 BM

b. 4.89 BM, 1732 BM

c. 3.87 BM, 1.732 BM

d. 1.732 BM, 2.82 BM

Ans: a. 5.9 BM, 1.732 BM

Quick Links: In addition to solving WBJEE 2025 Inorganic Chemistry practice questions, you should also attempt chapter-wise WBJEE 2025 mock test at least twice or thrice a week particularly during the last phase of your exam preparation. This will give you a boost in confidence and also help you time yourself while solving the questions, thus increasing efficiency and speed.

Dear Student,

The NxtWave Institute of Advanced Technologies, Hyderabad does not offer a B.Tech Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning course. However, the institute offers a 4-year full-time course in Computer Science with a specialization in Machine Learning and Data Science. In addition, the NIAT encourages students to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at universities that have been accredited by the UGC. However, if you want to pursue a AIML course you may look for other colleges for admission, such as IIT Bombay, IIT Gandhinagar, VIT Vellore, Suresh Gyan Vihar University, HIET Ghaziabad etc.

We hope this answers …
