What is the Normalization Method in JEE Main 2025?

When an exam like JEE Main 2025 is conducted in two sessions, normalization of marks is needed to balance out the exam's degree of difficulty. Therefore, NTA will announce the JEE Main 2025 percentile after conducting the JEE Main 2025 normalization process. JEE Main Percentile scores, which are typically calculated on a scale of 100 to 0 for each session of students, show the percentage of applicants that scored the same as or lower (same or lower raw scores) than that specific percentile in that examination. As a result, each JEE Main 2025 session's highest scoring will ultimately get a percentile of 100, which is ideal.

As part of the JEE Mains marking methodology, NTA sums the students' raw marks and normalizes them to derive the percentile scores for each of the three subjects— Maths, Physics, and Chemistry as well as the overall. It is desired that the top score in each JEE Main 2025 session would have a percentile of 100. Additionally, the scores between the top and lowest will be transformed into percentiles. The merit lists are created using this percentile score. It should be noted that the percentile scores are calculated with up to 7 decimal places to minimize bunching and tie-breaking amongst candidates who have identical scores.

The JEE Main Percentile 2025 will be calculated as per the given formulae.

JEE Main 2025 Tie-Breaking Policy

As the JEE Main exam is conducted in various sessions and several candidates participate in the exam, there is a possibility that two or more students score the same marks. In that case, the JEE Main 2025 tie-breaking policy will be utilized. The percentages of the total raw scores will be used to create the JEE Main Merit List 2025 and rank list. The inter-se merit will be decided in the following order if two or more test takers get equal Percentile Scores on the exam:

  • Candidates scoring higher in the test's mathematics percentile will be given a preference

  • Then, candidates scoring at a greater percentage on the physics test will be given a preference

  • Then, candidates scoring better in the test's Chemistry Percentile will be given a preference

  • Then, older candidates will be preferred

JEE Main Result 2025
