NID Seat Intake and Reservation Policy: The National Institute of Design (NID) stands tall among the country's top design schools. Every year, the institute revises its reservation policy and seat allocation based on current needs. Back in 2019, all NID campuses collectively offered 100 seats for the B.Des program. But in 2020, they upped the ante by adding 28 more seats. Similarly, for the M.Des program, seats jumped from 275 to 347. Presently, there are 425 seats for B.Des and 347 for M.Des. Admissions to these courses hinge on the NID DAT 2024 entrance exam. Overseas candidates also saw an increase in available seats for both programs. Reserved category students like SC, ST, and OBC can apply through the open category or their specific one. To be considered for reservation, candidates must specify their category in the application. The criteria for reserved categories differ from the regular ones, and seats are allocated based on NID's policy across various disciplines. Yes, National Institute of Design (NID) Ahmedabad offers a four year long B.Des programme. Under the Industrial Design faculty, the Furniture and Interior Design course is offered. It has a total of 13 seats. For NID Ahmedabad admission to the B.Des Furniture and Interior Design course, you must go through the two-stage Design Aptitude Test (DAT).  You must appear for DAT Prelims and then successfully get shortlisted for the second stage DAT Mains.  You are going to acquire practical training, resource-material interaction, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills from the B.Des Furniture and Interior Design programme at NID Ahmedabad.

Hello Saima Praveen, yes, you are eligible to apply for the UCEED and NID entrance exams 2024 for admission to National Institute of Design Ahmedabad. The eligibility criteria for both exams is that you must have passed the class 12 examination or equivalent in 2023 or appearing in 2024. There is no age limit for UCEED but for NID DAT you must be born on or after July 1, 2003. Since you have completed your class 12 with the science stream in 2022 and your date of birth is March 15, 2005, you meet the eligibility criteria for both exams. Please note that the application process for both exams typically begins in September-October and the exams are held in January. I recommend that you start preparing for the exams early and visit the official websites of UCEED and NID for more information.

As per NID Ahmedabad eligibility criteria, candidates have to apply for a BDes programme, you must have successfully completed Class 12 in any stream. Applicants must also have been born on or after July 1, 2002 (July 1, 1999 for SC/ST candidates). Selection is done on the basis of DAT Prelims (with a 40% weightage) plus DAT Mains (60 percent weightage).
