Different types of scholarships are available to varied categories of reserved candidates from the central government, state governments, and other private organizations to candidates who wish to pursue a B.Ed degree programme. B.Ed Scholarships 2023: Eligibility Criteria

Tata Trust Scholarship for B.Ed and D.Ed Students: Distinguished candidates living in Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura can apply for Tata Trust scholarships to further their studies in the education sector. The preceding exam must have been passed with at least a 60% overall grade by the candidates to be eligible for this B.Ed scholarship.

UGC Emeritus Fellowship: Candidates must have prior teaching experience in a reputable university or college and should be under the age of 70 to qualify for the B.Ed scholarship. The fellowship has a two-year limit that cannot be extended. A B.Ed scholarship worth INR 10,000 will be awarded to deserving candidates each month. The contingency allowance will also be given, amounting to INR 20,000 annually.

Widow-Abandoned Chief Minister (B.Ed) Sambal Yojana: The female candidates must fall under the abandoned/ divorced category and maintain 75% university attendance in order to be eligible for the B.Ed scholarship. The scheme's main objective is to support female candidates by covering the institution's expenses.

Vidyasaarathi MPCL Scholarship: A minimum of 50% must be earned for the graduation degree by the candidate. The household salary should not exceed INR 5,00,000 per year. However, this scholarship programme does not allow MPCL group employees or their children to benefit from it. The MPCL group's employees and their children are not eligible to benefit from this scholarship programme. The selected applicants receive a B.Ed scholarship worth up to INR 8,000. 

CARE Rating Scholarship Scheme: The applicant must graduate with at least a 50% grade point average. To qualify for the B.Ed scholarship programme, the applicant's family income should not exceed INR 5,00,000. To the meritorious individuals, a scholarship of up to INR 25,000 would be awarded.

B.Ed Scholarships 2023: Important Information and Instructions

There are certain sets of cardinal instructions that must be known and followed by the candidates in order to apply and avail the benefits of various B.Ed scholarships through an informed process.

Tata Trust Scholarship for B.Ed and D.Ed Students: Candidates from Jammu and Kashmir and North-East India are given the opportunity to pursue higher education under the Tata Trust scholarship.   • All government grants, scholarships, and fellowships must be paid directly into the beneficiary's account beginning with the financial year 2016 - 17, according to instructions from the Ministry of Human Resource Development of the Government of India to the University Grants Commission. Aadhaar will therefore be utilized as an identifier for grant release under the plan.
  • Emeritus Fellowships are given out based on the Expert Committee's recommendations, which was formed by the Commission specifically for this purpose. When applying for the Emeritus Fellowship Award, the applicant should not already be holding another position or be earning a living elsewhere. No extension is permitted under the programme, so the project must be well stated and include a time-bound action plan in order to be completed within the allowed time frame.
  • Contingency grant (Non-lapsable) of INR 20,000 per year for secretarial help, domestic travel related to the research project, stationery, postage, consumables, books and periodicals, and equipment. However, any books, journals, equipment, or other purchases made with the contingency grant will belong to the university or college.
  • The university department in question would account for the expense just like it would for any other departmental expense. The Emeritus Fellow would be eligible for any additional benefits, such as medical services, that are provided to university faculty members, but housing would not be one of them.
  • The superannuated instructor in universities or other institutions may submit an application at any time of the year using the format required for the Scheme. Two of their best articles or research papers must be submitted with the application. The candidate must work with the registrar or principal of the university or college they wish to attend to submit their application (four sets of the proposal).
  • Awarded individuals are only permitted to travel abroad once per year in connection with their approved research projects with UGC and the institution/university where the project work is being done with prior consent and/ or lack of opposition. Additionally, UGC will not be held financially liable for this.
  • If the candidate does not begin the fellowship within three months of the date on the grant letter, the award will be deemed void.
  • The fellowship payment must be made straight into the awardee's bank account through a UGC certified bank. On the UGC site, a list of the bank's designated branches is available.
  • The recipient of the award must go to the designated branch with a copy of the award letter and joining report, as well as a copy of the needed proforma Annexure-II, which includes the recipient's name, address, and phone number. The recipient of the prize must additionally deliver the following paperwork to the authorized UGC-designated Bank branch within the allotted time frame. Before disbursing funds, the approved agency may check the accuracy of the records.
  • Upon completion of the award, the Institution is obliged to provide a verified Utilisation Certificate. However, the final report, the Utilization Certificate, and the Statement of Expenditure must all be received before 15% of the allocated amount from the second year contingency grant can be disbursed.
  • The scholarship recipient must give an annual progress report on the work completed. It is expected that the recipient of the grant will see that the project is completed and provide a final report of the work together with a summary of the work of 1,000 words for future use and reference. However, no extension is allowed past the sum of two years, and the recipient stops being a UGC Emeritus Fellow as soon as the deadline has passed. The Commission will not accept any assertions or references to this effect, and its decision is definitive.

The scheme's main objective is to support female candidates by covering their institution's expenses.

  • Only widowed and/ or derelict women are eligible for the Widow-Abandoned Chief Minister (B.Ed) Sambal Yojana scholarship programme.
  • Widowed and/ or derelict women who are receiving scholarship benefits/ grants from anywhere else will not be eligible for the Widow-Abandoned Chief Minister (B.Ed) Sambal Yojana scholarship programme.
  • Widowed and/ or derelict women must have a 75% attendance at their teaching university to be able to apply for the Widow-Abandoned Chief Minister (B.Ed) Sambal Yojana scholarship programme.
  • Any widowed and/ or derelict women who have left the university after applying for the Widow-Abandoned Chief Minister (B.Ed) Sambal Yojana scholarship programme, must immediately inform the concerned authority without any delay about the same. If they fail to do the same then their scholarship will be rejected as per the discretion of the scholarship conducting authority.
  • A widowed woman applying for the Widow-Abandoned Chief Minister (B.Ed) Sambal Yojana scholarship programme must submit a copy of her husband’s death certificate for the mandatory verification purposes in order to prove her status. Any widowed woman candidate unable to furnish the above-mentioned proof will be ineligible    for this scholarship.
  • Any widowed or derelict woman who is already B.Ed qualified is not eligible for the Widow-Abandoned Chief Minister (B.Ed) Sambal Yojana scholarship programme.
  • A derelict or divorced woman must produce a divorce certificate from either the court or from the civil judge (Kazi for Islamic women) for the mandatory verification purposes to prove her status in order to be eligible for the Widow-Abandoned Chief Minister (B.Ed) Sambal Yojana scholarship programme.
  • For both divorced/ derelict or widowed women, a notary attested non-judicial stamp paper must be presented to the scholarship conducting institution containing the following details mentioned below:
  1. Name of the candidate
  2. Husband’s Name
  3. Widowed/ divorced woman’s Father’s Name
  4. Husband Death Certificate and Death Date in case of widowed women
  5. Divorce Certificate decree provided by the court or the authorized civil judge (or Kazi)

Vidyasaarathi MPCL Scholarship: The Vidyasaarathi MPCL scholarship is an educational aid programme offered by the Malana Power Limited Company to students enrolled in B.Ed, ITI, and nursing programmes. Interested candidates may apply for this scholarship programme if they are enrolled full-time in a 2-year B.Ed programme from any institution that has been granted NCTE and NAAC approval. The household salary should not exceed INR 5,00,000 per year. The MPCL group's employees and their children, however, are not permitted to benefit from this scholarship programme. The selected applicants receive a B.Ed scholarship worth up to INR 8,000.

Candidates opting for the Vidyasaarathi MPCL Scholarship must upload the following required documents online:

B.Ed Scholarships 2023: How To Apply

The B.Ed candidates willing to avail the benefits of various types of B.Ed scholarships provided to them must first check their eligibility for the scholarship that they want to apply for; and if they are fulfilling all the eligibility requirements prescribed by the organizing body of the scholarship programme, they then can proceed to apply for the varied B.Ed scholarships to get financial aid in order to study the B.Ed degree course.

Part I: Filling the application form and submitting it online
  • The application form's email address will be used for all communications. Please be careful to enter the proper email address.
  • Only choose streams that are pertinent to your field of study.
  • Students are required to complete the application form by answering all of the required questions.
  • Student applicants should submit just one application. If more than one application is submitted, they will all be rejected.
  • By pressing the "Next" button, you can go on to the application's succeeding parts.
  • Click the "Submit" button once the application form has been filled out entirely.
  • An acknowledgement message and directions for sending the required documents (listed in Part 2) in a single email to igpadmin@tatatrusts.org will appear on the screen.
Part II: Emailing all the required documents

It is imperative for candidates applying for the Tata Trust Scholarship for B.Ed and D.Ed students to submit all the prescribed documents in order to successfully complete the application process for the scholarship programme. If, due to any reasons, candidates are not able to furnish the required documents then they will not be considered for the scholarship programme.

The steps under this part are mentioned below:
  • Submit the attested photocopies of the mark sheets for the academic year 2021–2022.
  • Submit a letter from the college stating the final date for the announcement of the results, per the sample provided, if the mark sheet has not yet been received (Annexure A). Please be aware that the student will be required to turn in their marksheet by the deadline set by the college.
  • Fee receipts during the current fiscal year for the school year 2021–2022. (If the candidate has only paid a portion of the amount or none at all, submit the college/institute letter requested in Annexure B. Please be aware that submission of the fee receipt for the paid amount is required.
  • A canceled check OR the first page of the bank passbook that simply contains information on the student's bank account.
  • Evidence of parents'/guardians' most recent annual income. 3 additional documents for Masters are required (MD, MS, MCH, DM, MDS, MPT, Homeopathy 2nd & 3rd year students only)
  • Resume
  • SOP or the Statement of Purpose
  • The student's monthly stipend amount (write it on the college's letterhead using the sample provided in Annexure C)
  • The email's subject line should read "Stream Name-Student Name." For instance, (Masters MCH)-(Swati Suresh Sharma)
Candidates must note the following important points while emailing the prescribed documents:
  • Please take note that if papers are not delivered within 24 hours of submitting the application form, applications will not be considered for further processing.
  • Only PDF files should be included in the attachments.
  • The files need to have the correct names, such as StudentName-MarksheetSem1.pdf, StudentName-MarksheetSem2.pdf, StudentName-IncomeProofAmit.pdf, StudentName-IncomeProofAnju.pdf, StudentName-FeeReceipt.pdf, StudentName-BankCheque.pdf, etc.
  • Emails having multiple attachments for a single application will not be read.
  • After the application and the papers are submitted, no further explanation will be expected.
  • Documents received after the deadline will under no circumstances be accepted.
Vidyasaarathi MPCL Scholarship

  • Click "Apply for the Scholarship" on the homepage.
  • Type in your personal details.
  • Type the captcha code.

The University Grant Commission established the UGC Emeritus fellowship programme. By providing them with a research programme, it encourages retired instructors/ teachers from universities that are recognised by the UGC Act to engage in active research in their field of expertise. The fellowship is only valid for two years and cannot be extended. Deserving applicants would receive a B.Ed scholarship worth INR 10,000 each month. Additionally, a contingency allowance worth INR 20,000 will be provided annually. For them to be eligible for the B.Ed scholarship, they must have prior teaching experience in a respectable university or college and be not more than 70 years old.

What documents are required for the Vidhyasaarathi MPCL scholarship programme for B.Ed candidates?

Candidates who choose to apply for the Vidyasaarathi MPCL Scholarship must upload the below mentioned necessary documents online.

One of the well-known programmes launched in 2006 is the Prime Minister's Scholarship Scheme 2023, or PMSS 2023. The Prime Minister Scholarship programme aims to promote a student’s education from class 12th till post graduation. The Railway Protection Force, Paramilitary Forces, and Wards and Widows of Deceased/ Ex-Service are given special attention for this scholarship scheme.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Yojana, Modi Scholarship (PMSS), scholarships will be given to deserving students each year from all throughout the nation. The Ministry of Defence, Government of India, through the Secretariat of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sainik Board, provides funding for this scholarship programme. The scholarship will be offered to the children and widows of former and current members of the RPF, RPSF, CAPF, and Armed Rifles in order to help them later on find better employment prospects. The chosen individual will receive benefits and rewards worth a certain amount each month for five years.

What amount does a B.Ed candidate get from the SVMCM scholarship programme?

SVMCM or the Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means Scholarship programme is provided to eligible meritorious B.Ed candidates who belong from the West Bengal State, studying in an institution situated in the West Bengal state only. The scholarship amount ranges from INR 12,000 to INR 60,000. 

What is the eligibility criteria for the UP B.Ed scholarship programme?

There are basically three different types of UP scholarships provided to the B.Ed students that are mentioned below:

  • Post matric (Other than Intermediate) Scholarship for ST, SC, General Category, Uttar Pradesh
  • Post matric (Other than Intermediate) Scholarship for Minorities, Uttar Pradesh
  • Post matric (Other than Intermediate) Scholarship for OBC, Uttar Pradesh

The eligibility criteria for each is mentioned below:

Post matric (Other than Intermediate) Scholarship for ST, SC, General Category, Uttar Pradesh

  • Students in the SC/ ST/ General categories who are enrolled in undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, or higher-level education are eligible for the scholarship.
  • The family's total annual income should not be more than INR 2,00,000 (for General category candidates) and INR 2,50,000 (for SC/ ST candidates).

Post matric (Other than Intermediate) Scholarship for Minorities, Uttar Pradesh

  • Minority community members who are enrolled in graduate, postgraduate, PhD, or higher level coursework are eligible for the scholarship.
  • The family's combined annual income shouldn't be more than INR 2,00,000.

Post matric (Other than Intermediate) Scholarship for OBC, Uttar Pradesh

  • The scholarship is open to OBC students doing undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, or higher-level studies.
  • The family's combined annual income should not be more than INR 2,00,000.

A few of the common eligibility criteria that all B.Ed candidates must fulfill in order to be considered for the UP B.Ed scholarship programme are mentioned below:

  • Only students with a residence in Uttar Pradesh are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
  • The students must be enrolled in an Uttar Pradesh Institution or University.

The amount of scholarships the UP government would offer students is not made clear. The amount of the scholarship changes according to the class and category the students fall under. Is there any scholarship available to B.Ed students from UP?

Candidates from the state of Uttar Pradesh can apply for the UP Post-Matric Scholarship (Other than Intermediate) for SC/ ST/ General category candidates to avail some amount of financial assistance in order to pursue their B.Ed degree course.
