IIM CAP 2024 (Calls OUT): Registration (Closed), Personal Interviews (Soon), Participating Colleges, Cutoffs

The IIM CAP 2024 registration last date was January 31, 2024. The applicants could submit their forms on the official website up to 5:00 PM. The IIM CAP 2024 application form was released on January 20. Candidates who met the qualifying cutoff CAP participating IIMs were able to fill out the application form and appear for personal interviews, which will be conducted most likely in February 2024.

The shortlisting for PI will be based on the qualifying cutoff percentile only for those students who have selected one of the CAP participating IIMs in the CAT application form. This year, IIM Kashipur is coordinating the IIM CAP (Common Admission Process) for admission to 10 IIMs, including the newly added IIM Nagpur. Until last year, a total of 9 IIMs including IIM Bodhgaya, IIM Jammu, IIM Kashipur, IIM Raipur, IIM Ranchi, IIM Sambalpur, IIM Sirmaur, IIM Trichy, and IIM Udaipur participated in IIM CAP. What is IIM CAP 2024?

The IIMs introduced the Common Admission Process (CAP) for selecting candidates for admission to their MBA programs. The CAP is a single-window selection process that streamlines the admission process for the 10 participating IIMs, namely IIM Bodhgaya, IIM Jammu, IIM Kashipur, IIM Raipur, IIM Ranchi, IIM Sambalpur, IIM Sirmaur, IIM Trichy, IIM Udaipur, and IIM Nagpur.

The IIM Kashipur is responsible for conducting the IIM CAP 2024 for shortlisting and interviewing candidates for admission to the MBA/PGP programs of the participating IIMs. The PI shortlist notification emails will be sent out in the second half of January, and the PI registration portal will also open around the same time. The shortlisted candidates will be required to register themselves on the portal to participate in the PI process.

The candidates will also be allowed to rectify any errors they may have made while filling in the CAT form under the educational qualification and work experience categories. Furthermore, following the declaration of the merit lists, the normalised PI scores will also be displayed to the candidates. After the PI round, the IIMs will publish their merit list, and admission offers will be issued accordingly.

How to Apply for IIM CAP 2024?

• Step 1: Visit the CAP conducting IIM website.

• Step 2: Next, click on the “CAP 2024 IIM” link available on the homepage.

• Step 3: Go to the candidate login and enter 'Click here’.

• Step 4: Enter your CAT registration ID, password, and captcha code.

• Step 5: After successful login, fill out the registration form by entering the required details.

• Step 6: Upload all the required documents in a prescribed format.

• Step 7: Finally, submit the filled-in CAP application form 2024.

Documents Required to Fill IIM CAP 2024 Application Form

Here are the documents candidates must keep ready before filling up the IIM CAP registration form 2024:

• CAT 2023 Scorecard

• Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheet with a pass certificate

• Graduation certificates

• Soft copy of the Photograph and Signature (Less than 100 KB).

• Photo Identity Card

• Experience certificates (Please do not consider training and apprenticeship as an experience)

• Issue valid caste certificates (NC-OBC/ SC/ ST) as per the format given on the CAT website. (For NC-OBC, it is valid for the next six months from the date of registration)

• In the case of DAP / PwD, issue the certificate following the format given on the CAT website.

• In the case of EWS, issue the certificate following the format given on the CAT website. The certificate is valid for the year 2024-25 (based on income for the financial year 2023-24).

IIM CAP 2024 Qualifying CAT Cutoff

For the selection process of IIM CAP 2024, the following cut-offs were decided for shortlisting candidates for the PI process. The shortlisting will be based on percentile cut-offs only. Only those who have scored above the cut-off marks will be considered for the PI round.

IIM CAP 2024 Selection Criteria

It is important for the candidates who wish to participate in CAP 2024 to have a good knowledge of the selection criteria of CAP 2024. The first stages of the selection criteria for IIMs are common for all the institutes but the decision for giving final admission to a candidate and the final stages of the process depend on individual institutes.

Step 1: Shortlisting of Candidates

Candidates are required to clear the CAT cutoff 2023 specified by the individual IIMs to which they have applied for admission. The IIM CAT cutoff percentile is released by IIMs separately and candidates must stay updated with the latest information to ensure that they are eligible for admission to their choice of IIM.

Step 2: Preparation of List of Shortlisted Candidates for CAP 2024

The list of shortlisted candidates is prepared by various IIMs and sent to the institute responsible for conducting the CAP for that particular year. CAP 2024 is being conducted by IIM Kashipur.

Step 3: Candidates Called for CAP 2024

Once the final list of candidates shortlisted for CAP 2024 has been prepared, the candidate will get an invitation to participate. The candidates who have received the call for CAP 2024 have to appear at one of the CAP 2024 test centres and participate in the next round of selection for IIMs.

Step 4: Personal Interview

Invited candidates have to appear for the personal interview, Prof Abhradeep Maiti, chairperson (Admissions) at IIM Kashipur, said in a press release that CAP 2024 PI will be conducted in online mode to reduce the burden on the candidates from travelling to different cities to appear in MBA admission interviews.

Step 5: CAP 2024 Scores Sent to Respective IIMs

Candidates are scored based on their performance in the PI and the scores of the candidates are sent to the respective IIMs to which they have applied. The CAP conducting body will be responsible for the preparation of the final scores of a candidate in the PI round of CAP 2024.

Step 6: Final Selection of Candidates by Various IIMs

The final scores of a candidate for MBA admissions are calculated by individual IIMs based on the weightage specified in their selection policy. Apart from the PI scores, a candidate's previous academic performance and work experience are also considered when evaluating them for admission to PGP / MBA / PGDM courses offered by various IIMs. Check the various parameters and weightage mentioned below for final selection in IIMs through CAP 2024.

The candidates who have cleared the criteria specified in the admission policy of various IIMs can then complete the admission process and enroll for admission to their choice of management course. At the time of admission, they will be required to pay the requisite admission fee as well as submit several supporting documents for verification purposes.

Important Points to Remember for IIM CAP 2024

Candidates appearing for IIM CAP 2024 must be aware of the important guidelines for CAP 2024 so that they do not face any issues during the admission process and can give their best performance. Take a look at some of the important points to remember during IIM CAP 2024:

• IIM Kashipur, which is conducting the IIM Common Admission Process 2024 informed students about the personal interviews shortlist via emails. Aspirants must check their spam/junk folders if they feel like they have missed the shortlist notification emails.
• This year, to help students from different parts of the country, IIM CAP Personal Interviews will be conducted in online mode.
• Since the personal interviews will be conducted in online mode, aspirants must make sure they have a properly functioning laptop/desktop with a reliable internet connection and proper software installed (Zoom, Google Meet, etc.). Candidates must also keep a headphone and a microphone handy to have a better interview experience.
• Candidates who are having problems with their certificates' validity, certificates printed in regional languages, or certificates related to EWS, NC-OBC, or DAP that are in a format other than the CAT format, should upload the document along with the completed and signed "Undertaking for Incomplete Documents."
• Applicants who lack the necessary documents as listed in the CAP registration form must submit the documents that are accessible and properly completed and signed "Undertaking for Incomplete Documents."

Shortlisting Cutoff of Individual IIMs

Candidates are shortlisted for participating in the admission process of IIMs based on their scores in the CAT exam. To be eligible for admission, they are required to have a score equal to or greater than the CAT 2023 cutoff announced by various IIMs. Candidates can refer to the table given below for the CAT 2023 expected cutoff for shortlisting applicants for admission. The number of candidates shortlisted by IIMs for the WAT-PI process is usually around 10 times the number of seats available.
