CMAT 2024 Exam Pattern 

Before reading Hitbullseye’s analysis for CMAT 2024, candidates must take a look at the CMAT exam pattern. The CMAT exam will be conducted as a paper-based exam over a span of three hours. There will be 100 multiple-choice questions on the exam. Quantitative Aptitude, Verbal Ability, Logical Reasoning, General Awareness, and Innovation and Entrepreneurship are the five categories from which the questions will be framed. CMAT 2024 Marking Scheme

The following marking scheme is followed for CMAT 2024:

• 4 marks will be awarded for every correct answer.
• 1 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.
• No marks will be deducted for the unattempted question/s.

CMAT 2023 Analysis by Hitbullseye

The section-wise analysis of the CMAT 2023 question paper is provided below:

Quant & DI 

The difficulty level of the quantitative aptitude section ranged from easy to moderate. This component included problems from almost every subject area, including number systems, averages, time and work, ratios, profit and loss calculations, time, speed and distance calculations, geometry, data sufficiency, algebra, mensuration, numbers, probability, and clocks.

One difficult question on logical math was also included. There were easy questions on bar diagrams in the DI portion. The line diagrams, tables, and pie chart questions on the test were easy. The questions on several graphs and blocks ranged from moderate to difficult. 

Reasoning 

In comparison to the Quant portion, the Reasoning segment had a mixture of easy, moderate, and challenging questions. Compared to the questions on logical reasoning, verbal reasoning was more difficult. Syllogisms, Verbal Reasoning, Analytical Reasoning, and Critical Reasoning were the four topics covered in the reasoning part. Analytical reasoning, series, and syllogism questions were all included in this section, and the difficulty level of these questions ranged from simple to moderate. There were also CR questions, and they ranged in difficulty from easy to moderate. Analytical reasoning problems were primarily single questions that were easier to attempt. 

Verbal 

The difficulty level of the Verbal section varied from easy to moderate. There were three brief passages, each with three questions, each with a separate theme, such as endangered languages, international trade organizations, and who decides what status developing nations should have. The initial set of questions that focused on grammar and critical thinking was simple. After that, reading comprehension-based questions were asked. Questions were framed based on the author's perspective, facts, and vocabulary. The difficulty level of the questions ranged from easy to moderate.

The questions based on sentence completion were easy to moderate in difficulty. It was challenging to answer questions based on sentence rearrangement. Additionally, there were questions on synonyms and analogies. The difficulty level of the questions varied from easy to difficult. 

There was one easy question based on linguistic inferences, facts, and judgement. The difficulty level of the questions based on Grammar varied from moderate to difficult. Questions were based on preposition errors, Synonyms/Antonyms, Idioms, one-word substitution, Complete Para Jumbling, and sentence rearrangement. In order to score 90 percentile in CMAT 2023, candidates needed to answer 16-19 questions with 80-85% accuracy.

General Awareness 

The difficulty level of this part of the paper was moderate. Business and economy, worldwide and national authors of books, finance and banking, sports, politics, history, science, and technology were all covered in this section. Questions from current affairs were asked, and anyone who reads a newspaper or has a thorough understanding of what's happening in the world would be able to answer them without difficulty. The paper had predominantly static GK questions, and there were questions on politics, science, awards, etc. This part of the paper must be given a lot less time. 

Innovation & Entrepreneurship

Questions in this section were a blend of static and current GK. Policies in the domains of economy, business, and entrepreneurship formed the basis of the questions. A few questions were also asked about the business personalities appearing in the news and the new developments/ innovations in the business domain.

The CMAT results are released 7 to 10 days after the exam date. No scorecard will be sent via post or email; the result will be available for download from the NTA CMAT official website. Your percentage is not displayed on the CMAT scorecard. You will be able to view your overall and sectional CMAT scores along with your overall India rank, but no percentile will be given.
