IIM Ahmedabad has recognized the challenging job market, noting a decrease in placements, especially in management consulting roles.
In 2024, the top recruiter at IIM-A was Accenture, offering 26 positions, followed by Boston Consulting Group with 23 offers. This marks a shift from 2023 when McKinsey was the leading recruiter with 18 offers.
The median average package for placements at IIM Bangalore in 2024 was INR 32.5 LPA, slightly lower than the INR 33 lakhs earned by graduates in 2023. The institute also saw a higher number of placements with consulting firms (218) than any other industry, with finance, banking, and investment following as the second highest at 81 hires.
Prof. Ganesh N Prabhu, chairperson of Career Development Services at IIM Bangalore, acknowledged that it had been a challenging year for placements. He also expressed gratitude to Accenture for extending a record 58 offers to graduating students, compared to 32 in 2023.
At IIM Indore, placement salaries decreased from INR 27.2 LPA in 2023 to 24.5 LPA in 2024. A similar trend was observed at IIM Lucknow, which saw a decrease from a median CTC of INR 30 LPA in 2023 to INR 27 LPA in 2024. Over 250 recruiters from various sectors participated in the IIM Lucknow placement drive.

Final Placements: Occurring in February/March, the final placement process at all IIMs is typically similar, with minor differences.
