MG University Admission for PG Programs

The selection process for PG programs in MG University is done either on the basis of merit or marks earned at the previous degree level. The entrance exam conducted by the university is followed by the personal interview, group discussions etc. Candidates would be offered an online application form, which they would be able to fill on the MG University official website. The entrance test is the Common Admission Test (CAT MGU) conducted by the university for admission to various programs in the University departments and inter-school centers.

MG University PG Admission Process 2025

For PG admission, the university follows a simple and straightforward procedure. The CAT-MGU entrance exam is the primary criterion for admission. The MG University Postgraduate Admissions Process is guided by the CAP (Centralised Allotment Process). Individual entrance exams are held for various programmes at the University's various schools.

MG University PG Admission Entrance Exam

Candidates except for MTech applicants with GATE scores, MBA applicants and international students will have to attend an Entrance Test, called CAT-MGU for various programmes opted by them. The potential of a candidate will be assessed through 80 objective multiple-choice questions and the candidates will have to answer them within 2 hrs (120 minutes). Candidates will get 1 mark for each right answer. No negative marking will be there for incorrect answers. Candidates are advised to prepare for the CAT-MGU entrance exam well and be ready for the same. Candidates must carry the admit card for CAT-MGU at the examination centre.

This admit card must be presented on the day of the Entrance Examination.

MG University PG Admission Allotment Process

A candidate can enroll through only one single online application form for selecting a maximum of four programs depending on eligibility. The application will be cancelled if more than one application form is submitted.  The university gives the candidates ample scopes to exercise their selected options of choice but that must be according to the order of preference. The MG University PG admission seat allotment is done strictly according to the following order: -

  • Options selected by the candidates
  • Rank acquired in the entrance exam
  • Eligibility as per reservations

MG University PG Admission Tie-Breaking Norms

If there is a tie in the marks between candidates, tie-breaking norms have been set by the university to decide the allotment for that particular seat. According to the MG university tie-breaking norms, the scores of objective tests will get priority, and then the age of the candidate will be considered.

Written tests/GD/Interviews/ for some programmes are organized to prepare the final rank list. Three times the total number of candidates essential for all categories will be called in the first phase of allotment by the respective departments of the university. This selection will be completely based on the candidates’ rank secured in the objective test or CAT MGU. The final merit list will be prepared considering the scores of CAT MGU, written examination /GD/interview scores, and also the bonus marks secured through NCC/NSS, etc. The candidates who will fail to attend the written tests/GD/interviews will be considered as not joined and the university will not entertain any kind of claim for further admission.
