SNAP 2015 Exam Analysis

Symbiosis National Aptitude Test (SNAP) was conducted by Symbiosis International University (SIU) on 20th December 2015 from 2 pm to 4 pm across various examination centers in the country. A large number of candidates, looking for the admissions into Management programs in the Institutes affiliated with SIU, appeared for the examination.

SNAP is an important MBA entrance examination for admission to one of the 13 Symbiosis B-schools affiliated to Symbiosis International University (SIU). These institutes will accept SNAP 2015 scores for their respective 2-year full-time flagship MBA batch 2016-18.

The test is mandatory for the programmes offered at following constituents:

Exam Analysis

This SNAP 2015 test was easier than SNAP 2008 other two major exams, viz., CAT and IIFT conducted this year. Even analytical and logical reasoning questions carrying 2 marks (in analytical and logical reasoning) were of easy to moderate level of difficulty. However, General Awareness section was a bit tricky difficult and students would should struggle to be happy to get anything in excess the range of 10-15 marks in this section.

Based on these observations, the Broad strategies to follow while attempting this paper should have been:

The number of attempts should have been 100 or more; if your average accuracy in Mocks (total correct / total
attempts) tops 90%+

Attempts of 130 - 135 marks would have sufficed; if your average accuracy hovers around 80-85%.

You should have attempted worth 155 or more marks; if your average accuracy is of the order of 70-75%.

This time, there was hardly any difference between the difficulty levels of 1 marker and 2 markers and hence students
should have attempted as many 2 markers as possible (if possible all 30).

Since all the sections (except for General Awareness) were easy, it was at your discretion to choose which one to attempt first. However, you should have started with Logical Reasoning, given that the all the questions in this section were 2-markers. Then, you could have attempted any of the sections depending upon your strengths.
SNAP 2015 is a paper based test with 150 questions having 180 marks. SNAP 2015 is an objective test i.e; Multiple choice Questions were asked in the exam. The following are topics in which SNAP 2015 were asked. The overall break-up, with detailed sectional analysis, is given below:

Overview

Total time = 120 minutes.
Negative marking = 25% of the maximum marks of the question.

Note - Some institutes in SNAP have sectional cut offs and hence, students are supposed to score in each of the sections for consideration of these institutes.

Sectional Analysis

Quantitative Ability, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency

The difficulty level of this section was moderate. Majority of the questions were from Arithmetic. The other questions were from DI, DS, Higher Math, Algebra and Geometry. Most of the questions were direct; both the sets of DI in this section were very easy. An attempt of 30 questions with 80%+ accuracy is safe attempt.

The topics of the questions are as follows:

Logical Reasoning & Analytical Reasoning

This section consisted of 30 questions carrying 2 marks each. Most of the test takers found this section on the tougher side than previous years.

The questions based upon Analogy and Coding Decoding were quite difficult. An attempt of around 20-22 and a score of 36+ in 45-50 minutes is possible in this section.

General Awareness:

The General Awareness section of SNAP -2014 2015 had 40 questions each having one marks. This year's General Awareness section had questions were from various subject areas like Static, Current Affairs, Business Affairs and Miscellaneous General Knowledge.

The topics of the questions are as follows:

Miscellaneous GK questions were mainly of quiz type in nature and bothered the students the most! The level of difficulty of the General Awareness section was high. as majority of the questions were challenging in nature.

General English Section

The English section was comparatively easy this time. However, there were some questions, which were tricky. Grammar based questions were of moderate level of difficulty.
