What is a good MICAT 2025 score? Often happens to be the most searched query of test-takers seeking admission into PGDM & PGDM-C programs offered by Mudra Institute of Communications. To put it in a nutshell,  a raw score of 45-50 in the Aptitude section is a good MICAT score. A minimum score of 3.5 out of 5 in General Exercise and a minimum score of 4 out of 5 in the Personal Interview is considered good for final selection at MICA. The MICAT score contributes 30% to the final merit list, with an additional 20% weightage given to CAT/XAT/GMAT scores. The Group Exercise accounts for 20%, and the Personal Interview holds 30% weightage. Candidates must secure enough marks to meet the MICAT 2025 cutoff to secure a seat at MICA Ahmedabad.

MICAT 2025 is an MBA entrance exam for admission to the PGDM and PGDM-C courses at MICA Ahmedabad, a top MBA college in India with a unique admission process. MICAT Phase I will be held in December 2024, and Phase II in January 2025. Scorecards for MICAT-I will be released in December 2024, and for MICAT-II in February 2025. This article covers what constitutes a good MICAT 2025 score and other key details.

What is a Good Score in MICAT 2025?

A raw score of 45-50 in the Aptitude section can be called a good score in MICAT 2025. Currently, this does not consider other factors, but it will ensure that you are safe as far as MICAT scores are concerned. The table below provides an estimate of what can be considered a good score in MICAT 2025 while also taking other factors into consideration.

This only considers the total score of the Aptitude section. The scores of other sections are not revealed by the institute.

But, this still does not guarantee selection. Here's why-

  • A good score in MICAT 2025 means one that can help you get admission to MICA. However, admission does not depend on MICAT scores alone.

  • CAT/ XAT/ GMAT scores and scores in Descriptive and Psychometric Tests (which are not revealed) are also considered for admission.

Hence, it is impossible to predict or expect a good score in MICAT 2025 unless you also consider the other factors mentioned above.

Previous Year Trends for Selection

MICA does not reveal the MICAT Cutoffs on which it bases admission. This makes it difficult to predict a good score in MICAT 2025. Taking a look at the previous year's trends can give us some information. But, it cannot be said that a certain MICAT 2025 score will guarantee admission.

  • Students with a MICAT 2025 score of 45 have been found to be selected and students getting 60+ have not made it to the institute.
  • It is safe to say that if two students have the same MICAT 2025 score, their chances of selection in MICAT are not the same.
  • This is because MICA is very subjective when selecting students and considers students who would basically be the right fit at the institute.

What is the MICAT Score 2025?

The MICAT 2025 score plays a pivotal role in the admission process at Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad (MICA). It not only determines eligibility for various programs at MICA but also significantly boosts a candidate's chances of admission. Candidates can calculate their raw scores in Section C by evaluating their correct and incorrect attempts. However, scores for the Psychometric Test and the Descriptive Test are not disclosed, leaving candidates to assess their performance in Sections A and B subjectively.

A strong MICAT 2025 score enhances the likelihood of securing a spot in MICA's esteemed management programs, which are highly regarded for strategic marketing and communications. It also opens doors to diverse career opportunities in marketing, advertising, public relations, and more. Additionally, a high MICAT score reflects critical skills like creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving, while also expanding networking opportunities with industry professionals and peers.

Normalized Scores in MICAT 2025

Since MICAT is conducted in two phases—MICAT I and MICAT II—normalization is applied to account for any differences in difficulty between the two sessions, ensuring a fair assessment. The final merit list is based on these normalized scores. A candidate's performance in each section, such as Verbal Ability, is converted into a Normalized Score using statistical methods that consider the scores of all qualified candidates. Each section is normalized individually, and the overall score from both MICAT-I and MICAT-II is also normalized to ensure consistency in the evaluation process.

FAQs

What is the shortlisting Process for GE & PI in MICAT 2025?

For the shortlisting Process for GE & PI in MICAT 2025, the Psychometric Tests are assessed first. Candidates must answer all of the psychometric questions. Consistency and leadership qualities are taken into account when evaluating candidates. Only those who pass the psychometric test are judged on the aptitude test. There are sectional and overall cutoffs for the aptitude test. Now, only those who pass both the sectional and overall cutoffs are examined for their creative writing and essay-writing skills. Then, individuals are shortlisted for the GE PI Process based on their cumulative scores from the aptitude exam and creative writing.

What are the components considered during the calculation of the MICAT final composite score and what weightage is given to them?

The MICAT final composite score shall be created based on the following weightage:

  • CAT/XAT/GMAT: 20%
  • MICAT: 30%
  • GE: 20%
  • PI: 30%

Does MICA consider CAT score or only MICAT score? And if it does, what could be the CAT cutoff for MICA?

Yes, MICA considers the scores of both CAT/XAT/GMAT exam and the MICAT exam. MICA gives 20% weightage to CAT/XAT/GMAT which is an aptitude cum psychometric test, and 30% weightage to its own MICAT exam. A percentile above 85 for both CAT and XAT is considered a good score for admission in MICA. A raw score of 45 to 50 in the Aptitude section can be regarded as a good score in MICAT 2024.

Is it better to appear for MICAT I or MICAT II?

For both MICAT I and MICAT II, the exam pattern and level of difficulty will remain the same. If you take both MICAT exams, only the higher score of the two will be taken into account.

How is the final merit list prepared in MICAT?

Admission to MICA will be given based on merit, and after that, consideration of the choice of programme will be taken into account. A candidate's name will automatically be removed from the list of candidates in the programme of his or her second priority after that individual, according to the merit list, is offered admission from the programme of his or her first priority. If the candidate receives an offer of admission to the programme of his or her second priority, he or she has two options: accept the offer and agree to remove their name from the waitlist for the programme of their first priority, OR reject the offer and remain on the waitlist for the programme of their first priority. All applicants who appear in GE and PI are taken into consideration for the final merit list and must receive the approval of the majority of the panelists of PI.

How to calculate normalized scores in MICAT?

The score obtained individually by a candidate in a particular sub-section of MICAT-I/MICAT-II, e.g. Verbal Ability will be converted into a Normalized MICAT Score. Scores shall be normalized using appropriate statistical methods by considering scores of all qualifying candidates up to the stage applicable to the candidate. Normalized scores will be calculated for each sub section separately.

Is MICAT tougher than CAT?

No, CAT is considered to be more difficult than MICAT. The difficulty-level of MICAT ranges from easy to moderate while the difficulty level of the CAT exam ranges from moderate to difficult. MICAT assesses the ability of the candidates to solve problems quickly and accurately, while CAT focuses on the problem-solving technique of the candidates. Additionally, MICAT has a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in the VA, QA, GA, and DCT sections, while CAT has a negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer for MCQ-type questions.

Does not getting the Spot Offer in MICA mean a candidate will not be selected in future?

Even if a candidate does not receive a Spot Offer in MICA, they will still be considered for the selection process. Two different lists are used for selection: one is a spot offer list, and the other is a regular list that will be released after the selection process is complete. The candidate's CAT/XAT/GMAT score must rank in the top 10% of those who applied for MICAT in order to receive a spot offer. However, candidates can be included in the other regular list, which will be released later, regardless of their CAT/XAT/GMAT scores, based on their performance on the GE/PI and MICAT exams.

Do students with a low CAT score like 70 percentile have the chance of being shortlisted if their MICAT exam goes well?

MICA does not consider performance in CAT/XAT/GMAT either for the purpose of shortlisting for GE-PI or for the purpose of computation of composite score. The shortlisting for GE-PI process is based purely on the candidate’s performance in MICAT. Those appearing for MICAT II will be called for the GE-PI process purely based on their performance in MICAT II only.

What weightage is given to CAT/XAT marks during the calculation of MICAT composite score?

In calculating the MICAT composite score used for ranking, no weightage is given to performance on the CAT, XAT, or GMAT. The prerequisite exams for MICA admission include the CAT, XAT, and GMAT. However, out of all the candidates that take MICAT, those who receive confirmed offers (formerly known as "spot offers") must rank in the top 10% of candidates based on their CAT/XAT/GMAT performance.

Dear Student,

For admission to the Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) at JIMS Jaipur, you must meet specific academic requirements. You need to have a minimum of 50% in your graduation. Additionally, a valid score in one of the recognized entrance exams—CAT, MAT, XAT, or CMAT—is mandatory. However, there is some flexibility: if you achieve a strong score in any of these entrance exams, it is possible to be considered for admission even if you have a graduation percentage of 49%. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to take part in further assessment through a Written Assessment …
